What If Bush Wins A Second Term?

I found this link on Metafilter. It's essays by 16 writers, liberal and conservative, predicting what could happen should Bush win a second term. Very interesting and thought provoking.

Read and discuss.

What If Bush Wins A Second Term?

Hopefully, the Democrats will be soundly beaten, and a group of party leaders will emerge more in touch with the people - and less controlled by the teachers union, other labor unions, minorities, and ultra-liberals.

We need two strong competitive parties.

Starting with Clinton's election, the Democrats have lost almost everything. They used to control both houses of congress (now neither), nearly 40 governorships (now 20), a big majority of state legislatures (now about 20), and many other elective positions.

The trend is:

More and more liberal positions = less election wins

Less and less connection with the people
(more kissing up to union leaders, minorities, and libs) = less election wins

Liberals like Hillary, Gore, Kerry, Kennedy, Cleland, Dean, etc. are not going to lead the Dems to more success.

World war 3. National debt so high we can never pay it of. The draft coming back. A move to end presidental term limits.

I am kidding about 2 of the choices I just said. Can you guess which ones?

If the economy continues to expand, then you're actually kidding about all 3. BTW, WW III is over. It was also known as the Cold War.

I think the commu... - ahem - Democrats will hafta do some serious re-inventing of themselves if they expect to take the White House in 2008. Everyone's expecting the Queen B... - ahem - Senator Clinton to run against whoever the Republicans put up to replace CINCSHRUB.

Way too early to tell if Cheney wants to run for HMFIC, and you know if he does they'll bombard him with all sortsa health questions. Giuliani is a possible contender and can be more than a match against Hillary in '08, provided he doesn't step on his d*ck.

And get ready the "Exile Express" airplane for all those certain Hollywood actor-wannabe-politicians come November... perhaps we can accidentally-on-purpose fly it into the Bermuda Triangle?

i guess GC is predominantly a bunch of Bush lovers. Or maybe the Dems are just not touching this discussion because it would stir up too much dust or ludicrous talk....

I can't afford to head to canada and neither can my boyfriend, but it's been considered.

I have no plans on voting for Bush, but if enough people promise to move Canada, I'll reconsider.

No GC is predominantly Democrats in the last poll, but Democrats tend to make ridiculous claims on here and I bet even TKE would admit that.

She is very annoying.

If Bush wins a second term? Well, life goes on and nothing new will happen.

I will wake up and go to work.

Star Wars 3 will probably suck. New York Ranges will suck. Jennifer Lopez will still get on my nerve.

Both sides do but some of the Republican claims you agree with so you don't see it that way.
