Songs

What are your favorite Alpha Delta Pi songs?

For Recruitment, Preference, Spirit, whatever. Are there any that seem to stick with you for a while?

As for me, everytime somebody says, "Bye, bye!" I immediately start singing "Bye, bye, Bye, bye, Won't do to be blue ADPi!..."

One of the songs from Pref that I always loved is sung to a Mary Poppins' song (Chimchimeny?), "Come ADPis, All ADPis, Come gather round..." It's really one of my favorites, as is "Boom Boom".

Anyone else have some favorites?

My favorite is "Sister." I don't know if any other chapters sing this, I've only heard of one but we sing it every year at pref. (well, three girls do)
Here goes:

Sister, I'm crying, it must be this rain. We've grown up now so suddenly, the realizations are haunting me. But sister, it's cold out, and I'm afraid it's time, that we must leave each other, there's a new life we must find. But we have something in common and a love we can not hide, cause we are sisters in Alpha Delta Pi, and we know that thru the years, our love will never die, cause we're bonded, ALpha Delta Pi
Sister, the years have, been so good to you. It's been a while since I've seen your face, that smile of yours was so hard to replace. But sister, you're so happy, and I can see it's true. HIs eyes look like his daddy's, but when he smiles I see you. We had something in common then and the same holds true today. Cause we are sisters and in our hearts the love will stay, and we know that thru the years, our love will not die cause we're bonded, Alpha Delta Pi.
Sister, we're grey now, but when you smile you shine. Our children all have moved away, but I just got some news today. My daughter has something in common now and a love she can not hide, cause she's a sister in ADPi, and thru the years she knows a love that can not die, cause she has watched you and I.....Cause we have something in common and a love we cannot hide, we are sisters in ALpha Delta Pi and we know that thru the years, our love will never die, cause we're bonded, ALpha Delta Pi, Alpha Delta Pi.

I'll never understand how we had three legacies on the front row go Theta after hearing this song. (No offense to my KAO friends out there, yall are stinking awesome!) Oh well. I want this one or Pass it On sung at my wedding. Probably this one. What do yall think?

Oh geez, I've started to cry. If any of you Zeta Chi girls are on here, I LOVE YOU!!!!!! Hopefully you've found a new rush nazi to take my place by now.

I would SO love to hear this! I am sitting here, all puddled up just from reading it! I would SO plan to use it at your wedding - how completely beautiful!!

Which reminds me: has anyone ever set the Creed to music? I find it so awesome - I have a framed copy in my tv room which I read every day.

Gosh, I'm going be all teary-eyed today...

I'm not sure who wrote it, I just know that it's a real tear jerker!!! I want one of my best friends in ADPi who I plan on having as a bridesmaid sing it, but I dont' know if she'll make it through. OUr senior year when she sang it and I was RVP she wouldn't even look at me so she wouldn't blow it for pref!! And yes we do sing the creed, well part of it anyway. Up until, "that it is a way of life." Then we contiue humming the same tune as the president recites it from memory. It's pretty cool.

Like ADPiZXalum, our chapter sings "highlights" of the creed:
I believe in Alpha Delta Pi
I believe that my sorority
Is more than a ritual, more than a symbol
That it is a way of life

We usually have another person other than the president (usually another senior) recite the creed as the rest of the members hum the tune softly as she reads (if she memorizes it, more power to her! ) and then when the reader is done, we begin singing the lines again based on where we were in our humming (so if we had already hummed the first two lines, we'd sing the last two lines and then stop)

ETA: I also have a framed copy of the Creed hanging in my bedroom, along with my final chapter composite!

OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!!

Since I joined through COR, I had never seen our Pref until this past Fall's recruitment and one of our Sisters sang it during Pref. I just started BAWLING! It's such a beautiful song!

ETA: One of my favorite ADPi songs is 'Little little ADPi' (as you can see in my signature ). I had never it until we started gearing up for Formal Recruitment this past August and instantly loved it!

This is amazing - so many of us know a lot of the same songs, but not all of them. I see that the Creed is on Alpha Pi's CD (I have got to order that!), but where can I get a copy of "Sisters"?

Part Two: as many of you know, I have a photocopy of an old ADPi Songbook from 1938, and I promised several of you to send you copies. The problems that came up were:

1) Immediately after promising this, my mother had surgery that had very serious complications. I ended up staying with her until she was back on her feet. By then...

2) We heard of Alpha Pi's CD coming out - what a terrific idea for a fundraiser, especially one that will help so many chapters!! - but...

3) The cost of photocopying & mailing the 1938 Songbook is actually higher than the CD!!

Since I did make a promise, I will still have copies made of the Songbook for those who ask me to do so. I did want to explain why I haven't yet done so.

So! If you still want still want a copy of the Songbook, please PM me. I have the addresses for those who asked back in the Spring. And again, my apologies!

Oh my god! The "sisters" song definitely gets to you. I had goosebumps as I was reading it. I wish I could hear it sung!!

My favorite song is "Gather Round." I know a lot of chapters dont know it. When we went to districts, we all got together at the end and sang songs and we requested to sing gather round but no one else knew it but the girls in my chapter.

Has anyone hear heard it? Just curious...its a beautiful song.

"Gather round my sisters, and sing this tale with me
It tells about our sisterhood and how it came to be"

Is this it? For a minute, I got confused with Gather Round, and Come ADPis. I love them both!

Honey since you mentioned the CD does anyone have a copy of the cd and would be willing to burn me a copy. I'd be more than willing to send you some money or even pick it up COD. I just don't think the Alpha Pi's might have any left. Unless someone knows that they do.

As for my favorite songs. I adore the ADPi round. I love Pass it On and my all time favorite rush song is Boom Boom (probably because I had to sing it too many times). I also like Linger and Come One and All and Listen.
