PinknGreen.com The Virtual Chapter...
Are members of Alpha Kappa Alpha aware of this site? I stumbled across it during websurfing. Will this be a place where sisterfriends can chat and interact with members like the deltanet, or is this a members only site? The site is non-official just like deltanet. It's about time you guys had a non-official site like this one! Tell me what you think...

Basically, any website other than aka1908.org is an UNofficial site. There are many sites out there.

Interesting
The site is very interesting.....but I'm a little weary about sending money to individuals I can't 'check-out'. They want you to send your financial card number and etc....How do we know that these women are sorors?
Well, that's my .08 cent.....your financial card number is similar to your SS#....if someone gets it, they may be able to join a chapter as 'you'.

I hope I am not stepping out of my bounds by posting, but what are some of the unofficial sites? I have only seen chapter sites, regional sites, and personal sites, but nothing similar to Deltanet.

The DELTAnet started out as a link from my personal site, back in 1995. I think I remember there being an unofficial AKA site in 1996 or 1997 but it folded. Maintaining a website is a tedious, costly, and sometimes THANKLESS endeavor... so the DELTAnet stands out because of its longevity...
Actually any "personal" site is an unofficial site...
I, too, would be hesitant to send money to join this website, though... My website was FREE for four years.... it's now $10 to join for LIFE.. also, mine started out with my sorors who knew me.. WHo's running this website? Who is "HSI"?

Hello Chat Forum:
I'm the editor of pinkngreen.com! I've been a silent monitor of this chat room and signed in to get info about the TV show, Charmed! I was really suprised to see our website listed as a subject! The website is not "active" yet, and still under construction. Our company, HTI Group is owned by three sorors that pledged in 1982. One of the things we're going to do is link, in the chapters and regions section, all the chapters that have web sites (after almost 40 hours of internet research, I think we've found all of them!)
The website has submitted an application to become a vendor of the sorority, so yes National is aware of the site. We also made a presentation to one of our National officers during a regional conference. The site will be for "sorors only" which is why we there is a request for sorors membership number.
It's a "virtual chapter" so the goal is to have sorors interacting the way they would be in a regular chapter - just in cyberspace!
The vendor decisions are made in December so we'll know something next week. I'll keep you all posted!
Oh, National has updated their site, it LOOKS GREAT! Let's see
I think its http://aka1908.org/index2/html

Just wanted to say,
I've chatted via email with a soror, whom I thought was the editor of PinknGreen.com, maybe they're co-editors ... I'm confused. Everything seemed legit and I agreed to be apart of the focus group to give input on the site and help work the kinks out. She's supposed to email me after she talks to the Deputy Director next week. I'll keep ya posted.

Hi Jody I got your email, everything's cool. I just wasn't sure if I was talking to you or one of the other two ladies that formed HTI. Thanks for clearing things up, I look forward to hearing from you next week.

I checked out the site and I like the idea of a member's only site where we can exchange ideas across regions as well as meet and greet sorors. But, I have my reservations about giving my financial card number. Honestly, I would feel more comfortable if I heard more about this from the Corporate Office.

Futurestar, I wouldn't compare Sisternet to any other forum however it is a great little cyber haven for sisterfriends and sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Although, the tie that binds us is either our interest or involvement in the sisterhood, we discuss a lot more on the forum than AKA. We've pretty much evolved into a family where everyone's opinion is respected and we offer support, encouragement, advice and criticism when needed to each other. The majority of the forum members are either sorors or ladies who are intersted in the organization but there are ladies from all organizations and backgrounds on the forum. Everyone is welcome. I won't post a direct link here but if you visit Delphiforums.com and do a search for Sisternet you'll find us there
Edited to say: Sorry - didn't realize this thread was so old!
