Re: Alpha & The Million Man March.
Hotep Brothers. Did you attend The Million Man March? What is your view on the merit of The Million Man March? Do you view The Million Man March as being a success? Did you connect with any fellow Alpha Brothers? What role could BLACK FRATERNITIES (Black only please) have played or continue to play in the objective of The Million Man March? Will there ever be such a march in the near future? Ptah Hotep.

I did not attend the Million Man March.
I think the March was a success at mobilizing those men who wanted to be mobilized. I do feel that in some communities, it was the spark that was necessary to show young men that other black men can come together to do something positive in nature. From an emotional standpoint, it was a benchmark for our people.
From a practical standpoint, I don't think the March was all that successful. I mean, I'd have to see the numbers, but I don't know if more black men registered to vote as a result of the march, or if successful black businesses were started, or of new non-profits were created that are doing big things.
I guess that's a result of poor measurement on the part of the organizers. These things shouldn't just be held and then forgotten....you've got to have people doing follow-ups and publishing annual reports that continue to reaffirm the importance of the march.
I don't think Black fraternities should have (had) any particular role in the march other than encouraging members to attend. This should be something that transcends affiliation -- something that individuals go into with an open heart or mind, forgetting about affiliation for a moment and focusing on the grassroots.
Just my opinions.

Re: Senusret's Viewpoint.
Hotep Brothers. Bro. Senusret, you and I might have had our differences in the past but I want to thank you for responding to my question. Your insight toward this matter has proven to be useful. On another note I want to pass to you some insight about an ETERNAL SPHINXMAN who is now a SIGMA! That is right! There exists a former HEAD of a MAJOR BLACK CIVIL RIGHTS ORGANIZATION who once was the PRESIDENT of his line when he was pledging you-know-what. This respective individual happens to now be a member of PBS. This is for informational purpose only. While I am certain my thread will be "kicked to the curb" I just have to get this out. Pass it along to the brothers. The respective party has a habit of trying to dap brothers too. Just pass on to the brotherhood that IN NO WAY, SHAPE, or FORM is he to be gripped other than a cordial handshake. He is quite popular with the Hip-Hop Political Action Committee too and frequents the college circuit quite often with Russell Simmons. Spread the knowledge. Again Bro. Senusret, your insight was well stated.

I attended the first march and was energized by the event. When I returned to NC we formed chapters that was supposed to advocate for issues affecting AA men - - - that slowly fizzled as the excitement wore off.
I equate the march as the second most successful march following the march on washington.
I'm not sure if Alpha should support this effort or not. There are many reasons for the march and I don't think that folk could ever agree - - -

Since you posted this in a thread discussing the Million Man March, are you referring to Ben Chavis Muhammed?
