So the hot sauce thread got me thinking-
were you spanked as a child?
If yes do you think it is a form of abuse?
Do you plan on spanking your children?


Me-
I was spanked when I misbehaved. My mother had three children and couldn't afford a babysitter so she had to take care of us- that meant if we acted up- particularly while in public- she would take us out to the car and bust our asses.
We deserved it, we knew better and we acted up. Plus you can't reason with a 2 year old.

I don't think it was a form of abuse, as a matter of fact I have thanked my mother for doing it now that I am an adult- because we were good children that behaved and knew the appropriate places to act which way.

And yes, when I have children, if they misbehave they will get spanked up until they are out of my house.

I got spanked when I was younger. Sometimes with a paddle until I hid it. I usually got hit with a sandle or the belt. I don't think it was abusive, I was bad and believe me I never did the same bad thing twice.

I probably won't hit my kids. Only because of it looking bad in other peoples eyes. When I was a kid me and my cousins always got hit when we were bad.

As for the paddle, we found it like ten years later hiding under the washing machine. When my mom found it I was like uh oh!

I was never spanked as a child, but I also think their are some children out there that could benefit from it. All my parents had to do was threaten us and we behaved. Usually my dad just told us how disappointed he was and you would be crying to hours.
However it is hard to define the line between spanking and abuse.

Got spanked when i misbehaved..... these new age alternative ways are crap! "oooooh talk ot the child...dont spank" BS....yes there are far better ways to get t he attention of a child than spanking but if you want their attnetion right away and to behanve than spanking is it!

I think I was spanked so many times as a child I actually enjoy it now as an adult....
