My building is surrounded by police!

There's a bank robbery in progress in the building adjacent to the one I work in. The cops have been out there for over 2 hours now and no one is allowed to leave any of the buildings in the office park. We saw SWAT team people out there and K-9's. It's been a weird day. Hopefully they'll catch the people soon because it's nearly time to go home!

That happened to me aboutt wo years ago. We watched it on TV from our office. The dude surrendered after about 8 hours. I think his buzz finally wore off.

That sucks but it seems like it is becoming a way of life. It is a different situation but 2 of my sisters are in finance and their buildings are surrounded daily here in NY by machine guns. I don't know if that is a good or bad feeling. Especially because I just got an email from the head of our agency on how we should prepare in case of a disaster during the Republican National Convention.

I remember when the guy stole the tank from the base, and he drove right down my friends street, and we had front row seats from his roof as the tank DESTROYED everything in it's path, including my friend's parent's car......

You know the street where the tank clipped the lightpole? Convoy, was it? My sister was driving down that street when she turned a corner to go down another. Of course, she heard a commotion of sirens behind her, so she pulled over. She looked back just in time to see a tank rolling down the street she had just turned off of. Later she was freaking out because, had she not turned off, she would have been right in his path.

Phew, good thing it wasn't like Vice City, otherwise her car would've exploded on impact...

That IS freaky though....who expects to see a TANK when driving through their neighborhood (except Chris Rock)?

Hey navane? Do you remmeber that whacko who stole a bus and made four complete loops around Texas St, Fairmount, and a couple other streets near Grossmont? Well, my family and I were coming out of the Chinese buffet near the Michael's art shop and the Soup Plantation when he came BARRELLING into the parking lot, and drove right by us, honking his horn the whole time. It was even funnier considering everyone was cheering him on.

Yeah?? Oh man, talk about dinner theatre!

I wonder if Southern California is the only place that seems to get the bizarre high-speed chases. When I lived in Long Beach, it seemed like there was an LA County chase at least once a month. There was a bus thief up there too! There was also a guy who stole a 7Up truck. When he sped around a corner, one of the cargo doors opened causing the sodas to fall out and burst all over the street.

Do other states have these too or it it just us?

Trucks, tanks and buses, oh my!

I think it's more the aggressive attitude California police departments emphasize on vehicle pursuits - they practically wrote the book on them! Must be the 'Captain Horsepower' attitude (get the sonofab*tchin' collar anyway you can).

On the other hand, the TV news here in DFW yesterday showed camera footage of a police chase gone horribly wrong - because there appeared to be no coordination between pursuing units. Cop from River Oaks (a Fort Worth suburb) pulls over a pickup, who then backs up, rams the front of the squad car and hauls ass outta there, the detaining officer in hot pursuit. Unbeknownst to him another assisting police car is trying to do the intercept on a cross street. Needless to say both cop cars wind up T-boned, the detaining officer who started the chase later died from his injuries. The truck - which was stolen - was found later, but they haven't yet found the c*cksucking perps.

What's really funny to me is that I just said that the other night when Mr. SSS was watching some show about police chases.
