One of our new members recently found out (10/27) that she
has a large lung mass close to her heart. She will be going under MAJOR surgery on monday (11/1) (the mass is intertwined with her heart and might be cancerous) Please everyone pray for her- Just keep her in your minds and hearts, i know everyone's love here goes out to her.
AXD love and mine,
Liz

update

hey girls we just got word that she went in for a biopsy and the mass is cancerous. She will need to begin kemo and radiation right away and when the tumor goes down they will attempt to remove it. One of our girls and a fellow new member went down to see her yesterday and said that she is in high spirits: i hear that went the patient is in high spirits that helps alot with the treatment.
So just keep her in your minds and prayers as always and Thank you all who have already done so.

new update

Thank you to everyone for all the prayers- they have been so much help. The new update is that the tumor was dignosed as Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I heard that it is 75-95% curable (correct me if i'm wrong). Once again thank you to everyone that has kept her in your hearts and keep the prayers coming
TFJ, Liz

fundraisers

just want to keep everyone updated on what been going on lately.
I hope everyone took time to look at our NM's website: its really cool to look to pics and read about whats shes going through and very inspirational to see how high her spirits are though the whole thing.
Around campus everyone has pulled togetherso much. Greeks and GDI's alike are putting all there effort together to do anything they can to help. Its so cool to see people that don't even know her donate so much money to help. Local bars put aside dates and all the money that gets collected at the door on those dates get donated, a fraternity on campus did a date action and the highest bidder was matched for a donation, ect. As AZD's we have decided on a bracelet fundraiser. We have bought bracelets off a cancer awareness website that reads "FIND THE CURE" and all money raised goes to her. We went through 300 braclets in almost 3 days and we have just orderd 500 more and almost 200 are gone and we haven't even gone to all the GLO's meetings yet (which we plan on doing next week). These braclets are like the "LIVESTRONG" braclets of our school. A fraternity's house cat even have one around its neck !! Its really cool to see everyone pull together like this.

Wow!
It seems like you all have really pulled together for her and for cancer donations as well.
A few years ago, the Phi Mus on my campus had a sister pass away from Cycstic Fibrosis and much information and donations were raised in her memory and donated to research. As AXiDs we used our proceeds from the Alpha Bowl (a flag football tournament) and donated them to resarch at Duke Children's Hospital for CF.

fundraiser update

Its kinda funny that you mentioned the flag football tournament because we were thinking about doing the same thing. We were thinking though of doing powered puff though so we could get better relations between sororities on campus and plus what guy doesn't want to come see a bunch off girls play around on the feild together. Its getting colder out now so Im not sure if thats gonna happen now though.

Since yesterday we sold 224 braclets and got $54.35 in donations. Thats $502.35 raised in 24 hours!!

This update is a little late, my computer has been broken and I’ve been pretty busy otherwise but I hope that everyones initiation went well. Ours went great and we had an awesome surprise for the girls when we had there pledge sister Rachel with them. Even though she is in the middle of chemo, her parents and doctors told us all the precautions to take so she could spend this wonderful day with all of us. It was definitely really great to have her there and to see her again.
