Political signatures?

I could be completely crazy here, and if I am, feel free to tell me, because you're all my sisters, or at least pretending to be. I've noticed that with the upcoming election a lot of people are putting political messages in their sigs. I have no problem with this, but I really don't like seeing politics associated with my letters. I've always thought our Gamma Phi sisterhood was strong enough to transcend religious and political boundaries.

I'm not saying it's wrong to express political messages - I'm a PoliSci major and I'm working on a campaign myself. I'm just not happy to see our letters that we all cherish associated with political statements. What do y'all think?

In IIKE,
Kathleen

I agree with you, but I do have a point to make: What about those of us with Gamma Phi letters on our cars along with bumper stickers supporting a candidate?

Could that be similarly construed?

Just a thought...

You wouldn't be referring to a red Mazda, would you?

It is a point, though.

No rolling your eyes or anything but I believe the two together are actually addressed in the R&P's. (surprise, surprise....). But, it actually has to do with endorsing the candidates (yes, I did get up and look in my President's Book).

And the issue would be associating the two together......

i.e., you're a Gamma Phi and you support so and so, so Gamma Phi must support so and so. I think it would be more relevant with the higher up Gamma Phi's.

I do agree with Kath tho......and if you hadn't noticed, I was doing my normal "thinking out loud"......

If I was going to "pretend" to be something it wouldn't be your sister (cuz I really am one anyway). I'd MUCH rather pretend to be someone REALLY RICH and beautiful.....

Can I pretend to be Mrs. Tim McGraw?????????? lol

Same here. I guess I'm old-school in the thought that one shouldn't bring up politics in polite conversation. Isn't one of the cardinal rules of recruitment, "Don't bring up personal politics in conversations with a PNM"?
