All male chapters!
Hello frat!
This is JayBEE!
I'm Attempting to communitcate with any of the all male chapters within Alpha Phi Omega. I haven't seen that many brothers from certain chapters on the net. Chapters like Clemson, Auburn, Maine, Minnisota, Moravian, Carson Newman, Samford and Dusquene. I'm not sure but I think Drexal and Delware is on the ropes. Hit me back when you can.

Delaware is definately on the ropes, last time I talked to sectional chair, it was down to zero and the administration of the school wants it come back co-ed. Drexel, I think just needed a semester to recover from being ground zero from Nationals. contact accordint to the school web page is kiss@drexel.com (MIchael Kissinger)
I think MOravian went co-ed, because I was told that there is only one active all-male school left in Region II and that is Drexel. Minnesota-Duluth and Maine both Orono and Machias seem to be doing OK. Don't have much info on the schools in the south, but haven't heard of any of the ones you mentioned having problems.

I partied with the University of Maine's male contingent at the last Convention in New Orleans. Very nice group of guys who do some incredible work in their chapter.

Other changes?
Who else lost their charter at the board meeting and were any charter/recharters approved?

What happened...
What happened to Austin Peay for them to lose their charter? Also, Randy, You are one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met in the Fraternity! You know everything or at least a little about everything APO related!

Austin Peay
Declared Null & Void for Inactivity.
There are only two ways for a charter to be lost in Alpha Phi Omega. One is a charter to be revoked (generally for things like hazing) by the National Convention and the other is for the charter to be declared Null & Void because the chapter did not pay AAMD(Annual Active Membership Dues)s for two years. (AAMDs for three brothers are required to be active, but one brother can pay all of the money) Sometimes the board will wait an extra year if the sectional staff thinks there is a chance of bringing it back, but not often.
Austin Peay last reported brothers in the 2001-2002 School year when they also had one pledge and one intitiate and reported AAMDs for three brothers. They did not send in anything for 2002-2003 or 2003-2004.
If anyone knows of any APO activity at APSU, let myself or the National Office know...
Thank You, sweete81. I graduated in 1990 and came onto section 84 staff the following October. I served on sectional staff for 12 years and have been on various national committees during and since. My specialities are Fraternity History and APO & the web.
Randy

I don't have the full story, but I do know from past info that:
* the chapter had not turned in their AAMD for 2 consecutive years and would have lost their charter at the February board meeting. If you stop sending in your AAMD for 2 years and no one can contact you...
* the only actives on the charter were going to graduate this past Spring. So if they didn't fix their AAMD issues and didn't get any new members on board...
Personally I hate it when chapters lose their charter, regardless of if they are co-ed or all-male. Its bad enough when chapters lose their charter because they were doing something they shouldn't have (like hazing), but I really hate it when it happens because the chapter wasn't doing their job, ie getting in their AAMD/recharter and fees on time AND recruiting new member so the chapter can prosper and continue and the like. It also doesn't help when these chapters don't stay in contact with the fraternity (ie, their SC, RD, &/or National Office). If a chapter is in trouble, they need to be in contact with the Fraternity so they can get them help.
Sad, just sad

From what I heard they were having a hard time recruiting. I have a friend who went there and she only knew 1 guy that was there in the 4 yrs she went there. I met 2 guys who pledged about 2 yrs ago or so. They came to the spring sec. 70 hosted by my chapter (Psi Phi) but I dont think they've had a line since then. It was due to non reporting. Fisk got approved for their charter Sept. 6. I don't know who else.
By the way...Clark Atlanta needs some help with their pg if any one is interested or in the ATL area...Deaconess maybe you could assist them...on second thought I'm sure you have other things u could be doing nice. H S 1.

voting on new chapters
No Petitioning Groups were up for vote by the Board for chartering.
Look for some new chapters in the fall, however!

clarification
Fisk had already been approved via mail ballot, so therefore was not re-voted on at the Board meeting. Fisk is scheduled to recharter! Didn't mean to cause any panic - but no *new* apps were voted on that hadn't already been approved via mail ballot.
