It's not wrong to express your desire to belong to this house but phrase it in such a way that you tell the national representative why you would be such a good addition to this chapter - grades, leadership, maturity, etc.

I would wait and see what questions they ask you - listen carefully to the questions and think carefully before answering. If you want them to clarify the point, ask them to do so - you want to answer to the best of your knowledge and ability.

Before your interview, if you haven't done so already, research the sorority on a national level. Never refer to the problems that the 'old' chapter had. If they ask questions about your opinion of the former chapter, answer honestly but don't be negative in your response.

Just out of curiousity - is this for Alpha Xi Delta at UF?

I disagree.

If the chapter had problems because of a lack of alumni involvement, that's not going to magically go away. If the chapter had problems because of a housing situation (i.e. being unhoused when everyone else is housed) and the situation is unchanged, those problems are not going to magically go away.

Look at it this way: If you went for a job interview and the company had an extremely high turnover rate, wouldn't you ask about that? I would hope so.

"Researching the sorority on a national level" doesn't always work. There are a lot of things you are never gong to find on a website or in national magazines.

I'm not suggesting the nationals go over every bad thing the 'old" chapter ever did, but they also owe it to the prospective new sisters to be straight with them and let them know if there are outside factors that are going to be tough to overcome. The prospective sisters also owe it to themselves to examine the situation closely (just as anyone contemplating Greek life should). If I were in the situation of recruiting new colony members, I would be much more desirous (is that a word?) of people who were somewhat aware of past problems or mistakes, so they could learn from them.

Hello this message is for anyone who can help me. I want to join this sorority so bad and I am really determined about it, but there is a problem the dues. I was wondering if dues are due when you are asked to pledge or do some soroities work with you until your dues are paid or should I wait and pledge in the spring when I have the money to pay up front.

Most NPC sororities have the option to set up your dues on a payment plan. If in doubt, ask. Most members these days work and pay their own dues.
