Delta Sigma or Sigma Delta
Calling someone with a Baird's Manual......
Has there ever been a Delta Sigma or Sigma Delta (other than the Delta Sigma that merged with AOII)?
Some fast help would be appreciated.....
Thanks!

Thanks, wptw. Super information.
I was asking because I found this and wondered if it could be a pin for the Delta Sigma that merged with AOII???

Which Delta Sigma merged with AOPi?
I'm wondering because I know a similar pin was sold last week as "an early kappa kappa gamma pledge pin" that certainly wasn't. KKG pledge pins always have a light blue and a dark blue, not black and gold. I have searched all Baird's at my disposal, plus I own all the history books of Kappa Kappa Gamma, plus I checked with HQ and what was sold was definately not a kkg pledge pin. The pin you showed a link to looks like one of the rhinestone pins I've seen on websites like greekshop1 or greek101. I know that there are still several locals who are "sigma deltas" or "delta sigmas"--could this be one of their pins? I love a good mystery!

I think the Delta Sigma that became part of AOPi was the one from Brown University, 1895.
The one whose badge is often mistaken for a KKG pledge pin - is Delta Sigma, a secondary school fraternity (basically a high school fraternity) founded in 1897 at the Lewis Institute in IL.
The one you linked to I've never seen before - sorry.

The sorority we absorbed was Alpha Delta Sigma and it was a non-NPC regional. We took their three chapters at Maine, Brown and Tufts in 1908. The chapter at Brown only lasted a few days because the university banned GLOs shortly thereafter. That's all I can remember because I loaned my books to someone.

Actually, Alpha Delta Sigma (Tufts Univ.) and Delta Sigma (Brown Univ.) merged to form "The Secret Order of Delta Sigma." A third group, namely Phi Gamma (Univ. of Maine), also joined Delta Sigma. These then petitioned AOII.... Courtesy of _Celebrate the Century_.
Their badges vary greatly as best as I can tell.
Thanks for the input, wptw. The advice is appreciated.
Roses to you, aopirose.

Ahhhh, once again the WPTW comes to the rescue.
This is the DUDE who will find, knows things about Greek Organizations.
Go C!
Baird's does get a little a little off center at times.
WPTW, still have not come up with anything about the S I. God, the whole school is like a lock up in contacting People!

DU lost two chapters in the early 1950's over racial policy. DU chapters at Wesleyan and Bowdoin severed ties with the international organization and adopted the name of Delta Sigma.
The Wesleyan chapter was Delta Sigma from 1952-1967 when it joined Kappa Alpha Society.
The Bowdoin Chapter became Delta Sigma in 1951 and survived as Delta Sigma until 1998 when Bowdoin banned GLO as a matter of policy.

Our Epsilon chapter at Penn State ended it's membership and went local as Delta Sigma over our National Dry House Policy...
