Euro 2004: How does France pull this shit off?

First Italy in 2000, now England today.

1) When will Euro countries stop realizing their at their most dangerous at the END of the game?

2) Why are we letting France be this good in soccer?

They have to be good at something. I mean.. Wisconsin has better cheese and California has better wine. Let the French have their "futbol".

they are very effing lucky, if Rooney had not of been fouled in the box he would have put it away. IF Beckham Makes the PK its over, Zizou is too damn good to miss a free kick from there and then the poorly timed pass back and the amazing timing of Henry of being there, plus if James doesn't foul him and just go for the ball there is no PK, but he made the right choice in getting player or ball when the ball was out of his reach.

But the way they were hounding the English defense all Game and especially in the second half they deserved to score.

LUCKY FROGS

We aren't letting France be this good they import players Zidane is Algerian with French parents, Pires is Spanish/French due to parents

and then you look at their Strikers Henry/Trezegeut/Cisse all tops of the Premiereship/Serie A/ French League respectively.

Plus France has been underacheivers til France '98 prior to that, the group with Cantona was supposed to Hoist the World Cup but didn't live up to their skill.

Their Defense hadn't allowed a goal for what 17 hours of play or was that their unbeated streak, either way with that Defense and the strikers their well balanced Mids make them a great team.

I still don't think they will defend the title but with my Top Team (England) losing to them my next team would be Italy.

Had to say what i could.

But i am glad to be watching the exciting soccer that was played today. amazing

Whatever, man. French cheese is the best. I don't like the French, but they have some damn good cheese. And their wine isn't bad. And their clothes aren't bad. And so they're good at "football" (I think only Latin Americans say "futbol") too...it just sucks that most of the people aren't as charming.

Actually, the US is the only place it's called "soccer". We already had a football.

They also called soccer "soccer" in South Africa.

ETA: The English let their guard down toward the end. This is a valuable lessons for young players out there, do not assume you've won untill the whistle is blown to say it ended.

You'd think a smart team like England would watch video tapes of France's previous games....

Like that one against Italy where the "kings-of-the-1-0-score" choked a goal in extra time and let their slow defense allow them to score and easy golden goal.

ETA: In the Philippines and Austrailia, they call it soccer too.

I was just wondering if your cable network was broadcasting the Euro games? Mine isn't but I did see the highlights.

Unfortunately, as soccer is becoming more popular in terms of actual play, TV ratings have gone down the last couple years, much like most sports on TV.

I honestly think soccer "had" it's chance to become a mainstream sport, and instead of trying to appeal to everyone, they tried their hardest to appeal to kids, which makes sense, but adults who never grew up playing it never could get into it, and most of them probably influenced their kids not to play it based on the little info they know on the game.

Many a Jim Rome clone told that testimonial.

I think we should just put MLS with Major League Lacrosse and the Arena Football League. Unfortunately, as MLS television has increased, football coverage abroad has gone WAY down.

Zidane is such an incredible player. I do believe that the reason the French collapse in the World Cup was because Zidane was out.

I'm lucky that they are showing every Euro game live. It's great to be in a soccer and rugby crazed country. The cricket I can do without.

He's a human highlight reel. He's so creative and in such control in his possesion game that he can just blow by 5 defenders and rifle an awesome shot. He knows what to do in any situation.
