NYC Snow

GC friends,

I was talking about moving to New York with some people who reminded me that salt is used on the roads during winter months. I drive a '94 Honda Civic HB that, according to these people, will be rusted out by the end of my first year.

First, is this true?

Second, if it is true, how do people living in New York deal with this?

By the way, I'll be in upstate New York (Nyack) where it is, supposedly, a lot colder than NYC. Is THAT even true??
