As many of you know, I am in Human Resources. The majority of my experience has been in training and development and recruiting, but I am expanding my skill set and doing more employee relations type stuff. I have been working, with the manager, an employee on a performance improvement plan. This is our lingo for "final warning"/shape up or ship out.
Well, he did not "shape up" and today I had to oversee his termination. This was my first one at this company and while it went, given the circumstances, resonably well, I have a MAJOR headache. Thinking about it totally ruined my weekend too!
I am used to doing the "happy" HR stuff! I know several people have emailed me about HR and how to get a foot in the door, but I wanted to post this to show that it's not all about "helping people". There's the other side too!
