Post Party Themes

I was wondering if y'all knew of any cool themes for mixers, date parties, formals, etc. Every chapter on my campus seems to have the same stuff, and we're still a growing chapter. I want to be very original and definitely the most fun. Thanks a bunch!

Xi Love,
Tish (Gamma Lambda, UT Knoxville)

Well, our Fall Formal was a masquerade ball theme ("Behind the Mask"). We discussed a 1920s theme dance, too. Um, let's see...in the Recruitment Manual, they list having a Ca-Xi-No Night. We're going to try that for COB. Um, we had Mocktails. And my big hope for COB is going to be a progressive dinner since we're unhoused and many of us live within 2-3 blocks of another sister.

Oh! For chapter day of Formal Recruitment, we had a Hawaiian theme, and a big banner read: Welcome to Xi luau. (It was cute...) But the cutest was Sigma Kappa's chapter day! They called it "Sigma Kappacuinno"...or something like that, since I can't spell.

We did a date party called, Under the Xi(sea), WE all dressed up like fishermen, mermaids, etc. It was a good time.

Here's a few:
  • Famous Couples
  • Where are you from? or Melting Pot (Everyone dresses up based on their national origin.)
  • Super Heroes
  • Mardi Gras
  • South of the Border
  • Polyester and Paisley (70's theme)
  • Casino
  • Legendary Villains (everyone dresses as a "bad guy"
  • SNL (everyone dresses as their favorite Saturday Night Live Character)
  • One last idea could be done right before a big game (I guess UT's biggest rivals are Florida or maybe Kentucky?)... You'd have to come up with a name that fits the other school. Everyone could dress like the competition (making fun of them of course)... like, everyone dresses up like the stereotypical Floridian (white shoes, plaid pants, etc)... sorry to everyone in Florida - I'm sure that anyone in Florida could have fun dressing up like the stereotypical UT Volunteer as well.

I hope this helps.

Every year my chapter has what we call FantaXi Island, our crush party. I can't think of any other really cute one's but you can have so much fun with the island theme.

The social chair in our chapter has some really cute ideas for date parties. The one we'll have in the fall will be Draft-a-Date, where everyone dresses in camoflauge and stuff, and Famous Couples, with a twist...the social chair picks out wacky couples, such as Ken and Barbie, a hot dog and a bun, Santa and Rudolph, etc. and everyone picks out of a hat the couple that they will dress up as. Past date parties we've had are Partying Through the Decades (people dress in 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's clothes), Bikers-n-Babes, Snowball (Christmas date party),and AXiD Luau. Have fun!
