Favorite exercise tape

I'm in the market for a new exercise tape, and I was wondering what the ladies and gentleman of GC recommend. I'm looking for all over toning. Also, it must be fun! I hate to exercise and I won't do it if it's not enjoyable. I like yoga, pilates, dance, but your suggestion doesn't need to fall into those categories. Thanks!

Oh darlin', you have come to the right place. I am an exercise video junkie. Let me categorize for you.

1) Aerobics/weights/Aerobic Weight Training. I love The Firm. If I could only own one exercise video it would be their very first tape, Body Sculpting Basics. The instructor is very personable but not perky, and the workout is a killer. Pretty much anything by the Firm is good, including their new ones, which you can check out at Firm Direct. You can also read about some of their older workouts at Amazon. I also like Kathy Smith's workouts, especially Lift Weights to Lost Weight and the Kickboxing Workout. Other popular instructors are Karen Voight and Cathe Frederich. If you're a little more advanced, you might like the FitPrime workouts. They're done by Anna Benson, the same woman who started the Firm. She is a genius, her workouts are tough yet unique and fun.

2) Pilates/Yoga/Dance. I recommend the Jennifer Kries trio: 3-Dimensional Toning, Precision Pilates, and The Perfect Mix. Jennifer is very graceful and in tune with her body, her workouts are very different from the average yoga/Pilates workout. Other good Pilates workouts: Winsor Pilates, Stott Pilates, and Kathy Smith's Pilates for Abs. You can get them all through Collage Video.

I'll probably post more later as I think of videos. Enjoy!

I have to say The Firm for sure is the best set of workout videos i've ever seen. I've done so many other programs (Tae Bo, etc) and this seems to be the best. I like the Super Cardio Mix the best if you have to narrow it down to one tape. They also guarantee visible results in 10 workouts...but good luck getting all of the way through the tape! I have a DVD set and I absolutely love it because you can mix-and-match your own personal workout....so there are literally thousands of unique workout combos. PM me if you want more info

Not exactly a workout tape, but a great workout nonetheless.

If you have a playstation, get Dance Dance Revolution and a dance mat to go with it. Once you get the hang of it, its an amazing workout. I sweat more in 20 minutes of playing that I do from an hour on the eliptical trainer.

I guess I need my exercise thinly disguised as a video game to get me to do it.

Bumping this thread for the prep-for-summer-season.

Any suggestions for videos?

I have a few Crunch ones- those are good b/c they're only 1/2 hour (I particularly like the Boot Camp one) and I can squeeze them in. Have Tae-Bo, love Billy Blanks.

I just recently bought a step- I could definately use some suggestions for some beginner-intermediate level for that.

I love Abs of Steel with Tamilee Webb. The exercises are really good. What I like about Tamilee is that she isn't one of those annoying fitness video people who keeps yelling to you in one those high-pitched, overly-perky voices, "C'mon! You can do it! YEAH!!!!!" Ugh. Tamilee is pretty low-key so you don't want to throw something at the TV while you're working out.

I love Windsor Pilates and Tae-bo. I just recently purchased Power 90. The workout is a little rough at first, but you will begin to see results if you keep up with the plan. Oh, I also have a Belly Dancing tape. I never thought I would sweat so much from belly dancing...but boy is it fun

I've got the Winsor Pilates and OMG, I am so sore after I do the Advanced Workout. It's kind of hard at first though, if you've never done Pilates, to get all the movements down with the correct form, and the breathing.

How is the Power 90? I saw that and was tempted to get it.

Crunch: Pick Your Spot Pilates....avaliable at Kmart for $7 and they WORK!

They're nice because it's 3 10 min workouts focusing on different areas...so all you have to have is 10 min to do a workout!

I just got a workout video from Kmart that is called 10 Minute Workouts and has 5 different 10 minute workouts: boot camp, pilates, yoga, ballet, and kickboxing. It is so easy to just exercise for 10 minutes a day, and holy cow those workouts are short but they kick my butt! I do yoga every day and then one other one. The pilates one is absolutely killer, I thought I was going to die. The kickboxing one is a good workout too, and I haven't had a chance to try ballet or boot camp.
