Trash Dumped at Jackson's Orchard

Wednesday morning, workers at Jackson's Orchard discovered an unwelcome surprise; a truckload of garbage had been dumped on the property.

Bill Jackson is the owner of Jackson's Orchard. He says, "We called the authorities, and we hope we can get this handled someway and end trash dumping because it's very unsightly, and we sure don't want trash dumped on our orchard."

Jackson went through some of the mail in the garbage and found it was all addressed to a WKU fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha.

Jackson says, "They're gonna probably say that someone else did it. And that particularly I don't care. But someone has dumped a large truckload of trash here."

WBKO did ask the fraternity if they knew how the trash got there.

WBKO: All this mail has Pi Kappa Alpha on it, and we found your hazing rules. Do you know how it got there?

Pi Kappa Alpha: No.

WBKO: Is there anyone who might have played a prank against you?

Pi Kappa Alpha: There’s a lot of fraternities on this campus.

Jackson says the University has been contacted, and he hopes whoever is responsible will correct the problem.

Jackson says, "I hope the fraternity involved will come out and clean this mess up and hope we can talk to them and help them understand that we don't want to be the city dump."

Due to this incident, Jackson says now they might have to lock up the orchard.

Jackson says, "We have talked about and thought about for a long time putting up a gate so that the orchard would be locked up at night. And this may force us to do that. I hate to do that. But, again, we don't want to be the city dump."

Is this Chapter so damn stupid to know that they were caught with their pants down?

Fess up, make amends and clean it up! Not only that clean it up!

In KC illegal dumping is a $500.00 fine when it is proven!

I agree. While it's quite possible that the chapter did it, I also see that it's quite possible that another group, possibly another fraternity, dumped Pike's trash so it *looked* like that chapter did it.

It could have happened that way, but, probably not!

Time will tell!

We all hope our Organizations wont do some Trashy Thing Like That!

If I found out My Guys did that, I would be PISSED!

I agree with Sairose. It all seems a bit convenient -

lots of peices of paper with their addresses on?! Too much like someone walking into a jeweller store with a bag saying 'swag' wearing a striped top and mask or something!

If something like that happend to the Chapter I advise. I'd still make them go pick up the trash or whatever the owner of the orchard wanted them to do. Regardless of whether they did it or not. I agree that it does seem a bit too obvious that another group did this. I still think that if the PiKA's did something to help out the owner, it would only reflect all greeks better. It's not like the chapter can't contact the newspaper themselves with a pre-written statement, approved by their national or regional with dates that they plan to help out the owner or clean up, or donate time/money to the orchard owners charity of choice.

I'm just so tierd of greeks having this trashy immage. Do something about it, even if it wasn't you!

First of all, it sounds like a big set up to me...If you were gonna do something like that, why would you leave papers from your house??? If they wanted to make it known that a Pike did this, believe me you would have known. Looks like another case of Pike hating....
