i totally agree. romano was the best character. this season, he just sucks. his character was the strongest in my opinion. are you sure it is a helicopter? was a sucky life to have a helicopter first cut your arm off. then later, a second comes to kill you. how awful. ER has turn into a really good show in the last couple of seasons. i hope the death of romano doesnt mean that they are going to suck again.

my thoughts: THANK GOD theyre killing off romano. He's horrible to everyone he works with. he shows no respect for women, minorities, nurses. It's absolutely disgusting.

I liked Dr. Romano - I thought he brought some synical, sick, sad humor to the otherwise stuffy show. I mean really, how many more pneumothorax (collapsed lung), living will/life support issues, or precordial thumps (when they pull back and thump a patient's chest) can we see?????

I dont like this super-high character turnover either. I think Romano added something useful to the show, c'mon, there has to be someone to drive you nuts. The show where he got his arm cut off was so good...just a giant shock! Good excitement.
Since I'm not in the USA and can't watch, someone please update after the show airs and tell me if he really does die!

I am glad they are getting rid of Ramono. I used to think his charactered added but since they chopped his arm his character adds nothing.

Personally I am a fan of the earlier seasons but still enjoy watching it. Everytime I say I am not watching it anymore I find myself watching it because I saw a preview and needed to know what happened.

Apparently, helicopters and Dr. Romano don't mix.

I think that ER has jumped the shark a few times. When my boyfriend George Clooney left and then when Julianna Marguilles left, it jumped a little. It really jumped when Anthony Edwards left. I think that the last great episode was when Dr. Romano lost his arm in the helicopter accident. The episode in Africa few weeks ago was good. I try to watch the show now, but it is kind of uninteresting to me. NBC should retire ER when they retire Frasier and Friends.

dr. carter will be back. they just wrote him away from the show for a little while cause in reality, he wanted to be with his baby.

i think the show got good when nurse hathaway left . she annoyed the crap out of me. i didnt think she was a very good actress.

what kinda freaked me out was when romano was showing feelings for dr. corday. that was just weird.

Same here!

Personally, I wanted to stop watching because I felt the show became too graphic and outrageous, beginning with Romano losing his arm. And now, Bob Newhart shoots his brains out, damn near on camera!!!!

The writing is what the problem is....when you have to resort to these theatrics to get good ratings, they've failed.

(PS - Does anyone remember when Dr. Glasses-Man said "shit" in his final episode?)

I hardly ever watch anymore, and Dr. Romano is one of the reasons I quit. I'm very glad to see him go!

i am usually in bed listening to er, but i really haven't been interested in watching. i thought it was really weird how they carried on about bob newhart in his "farewell" episode. he was on the show three times....and the whole premise was that he was going to committ suicide bc he was losing his eye sight. give me a break.

as much as i wanted to throw something at the tv every time i heard romano's voice, i am going to be sad to see him go. who else is going to be the big jerk?

I remember reading about killing off Dr. Romano's character a few months ago and that Paul McCrane was leaving the show for good. Can't remember where I read it, but I'm presuming it's true.

Everytime I see that guy I can't help but sing along to the 1980s song from "FAME"--the movie:

"I siiiiiiing the bodyyyy electriiiiic..."

Okay, before I say a word, it's a well-known fact that the best way to get me to HATE YOUR GUTS is to call me during ER!!! I am hooked to that show as if I'm on some sort of life support.

*breathing again*

I read about Rocket Romano & John Carter, so I'm not surprised about those twists.

And this (because I do the same darn thing!)

I loved last night's show!!! Someone I dearly love is going through macular degeneration, and I really needed to see what Bob Newhart was seeing. I completely understand at least considering suicide when you lose your ability to do any of the things you were good at. And it was good for Susan to see that, when an emergency call comes in, you sometimes need to take the call, or regret the consequences.

An added plus: was there no Carrie Weaver last night? Why oh why oh why isn't she the one to get bumped off? She's not even the character you love to hate anymore - she's simply loathsome. blech.

Oh, and I have first dibs on George Clooney. Sorry, sweetie!

I'm just so glad that there are other ER junkies!
