What to do in this situation?
Ok, my chapter is a good chapter on campus ( not because we are think were all hot and stuff, but b/c we work SUPER hard). And we are at total and usually do good through formal, BUT here's the situation: Through formal we try to be as real as possible, so the girls coming through know what kind of girls we are, and we are totally against dirty rushing, but there are one or two chapters on campus who are not so much against it. they tell girls they want them and to suicide or drop out of formal and they'll pick them up as soon as COB starts. I mean seriously these girls should win an Oscar! And the thing is, is Panhellenic knows this about these chapters and they wont do anything to help. Anyone have any advice? Does this happen at your school?

shadokat can help you on this...they had this problem at her school and I believe what they did was say if you suicided XYZ, you couldn't take a bid from XYZ for a year. (H correct me if I'm wrong.)

Do you have a small number of sororities? A lot of times a small PHC will mean the groups are a little afraid to turn on each other officially. But honestly, a dailouge between PHC and your Greek advisor is the place to start.
The Greek advisor is there to play Daddy or mommy.

It's a smaller school, but not that little. I actually didn't think anything like this went on up there, contrary to what my sisters said.
I really don't know what to do...if Panhellenic won't step in, then...?

Make your advisor act..
I empathize with your situation.. I've been there before.
We had a situation for a while where the greek advisor was an alumnae of a certain house on campus and no rules were ever enforced for that house. All the protests and rules violations fell on deaf ears. She even went as far as to "lose" snap bids by other houses for girls her house wanted. (Her house would drop girls at round two, then snap bid them at the end when they missed quota - and having "lost" the other bids the 'advisor' would then tell the girls "looks like XYZ house is the only one that wants you" .. such B.S. )
ANYWAY...
The only way we got this nonsense to stop was to use leverage and appeals to higher authority to make it stop.
"Leverage" might be having one of your Rho Chis (along with allies from other houses) make a loud public anouncement at FMR if Panhel refuses to do something, it may also be getting a critical mass of houses to enact a policy such as forbidding suicides, or enacting more serious punishment for infractions (Such as dropping a houses' quota after two "serious" rush infractions).
"Appeals to higher authority" might be a larger greek advisor (if they will help) or even the university. The end action on our part was to get a committee of houses to appeal to the Dean of student affairs (who greek affairs reports to) to consider replacing the biased advisor for ineffectiveness. (He did)
Best of luck.. hold your head high and take the moral high ground...integrity is earned not bought.

We did have this issue at my school, and to solve the issue, anyone who suicided a group could not COB there. My advice is that you report the incidences of this to your Panhellenic, as well as your chapter/recruitment advisor. Have your advisor contact the Greek Advisor on campus and keep on them. Often times, if chapters are all doing well and Greek Advisors aren't made aware of these incidences, the issue goes unresolved.
Good luck, and trust me, I feel your pain
