Update...a little long
Hi ladies, I need some advice.
My Beta search is going pretty well. I contacted International a while ago and asked if my info had been given to local chapters. They said they weren't sure and they would get back to me. That was a month ago.
After 2 weeks of not hearing from Int'l, I decided to take matters into my own hands and posted about local chapters on another Beta board. I got a response from a neighboring city council member the next day. After telling her where I lived, she forwarded my info to a city council officer in my area. I heard from her a few days later. She in turn gave my info to the VP of one of the ROJ chapters. It's been about a week and a half since she gave my info to the VP, and I haven't heard anything.
I have the VP's number, but I think I need to wait a little longer before contacting her. I don't want to seem like a dork. Thoughts?
Thank you all for the help you have given to me and other PNMs.

Give the VP a few weeks to get in touch. She might be waiting for the right event to invite you.
Don't worry about seeming like a dork. Enthusiasm is a good thing

Another question for everyone...
I forgot to add in my original post that while searching the internet I came across an ROJ chapter that is in a nearby city with members close to my age. I'm a little hesitant about contacting them because the chapter is in the city council of the first sister who contacted me off of the Beta board. After telling her where I lived, she referred me to another city council.
I don't want to seem rude, like I didn't appreciate her getting a contact for me. Would it be inappropriate to contact this chapter that is in her council? This chapter is approx. 30 min. from me.
Hope I didn't confuse you, if I did, you can PM me for clarification!!
Thanks everyone!!!!

I say go ahead and contact the chapter you found on the net. I had been in contact with one chapter when I contacted a chapter closer to where I live, and found that I felt more comfortable with the second chapter. Both are in the same city council. There were no hard feelings from the first chapter; in fact, they recently hosted my chapter for a social, and we all had a blast! So go with what you feel will be the best for you.

Like Erica said it may take up to 4-6 wks til you hear back from the VP or Extention Officer for invites to events and / or meetings.
I just happened to be lucky that I went to a meeting the next week after contacting the contact number.

I called and emailed the contact I found online also & I'm in the same chapter. It took 2 months (started just b4 Thanksgiving) then accepted invitation to join Xi Gamma Tau (career format chapter) at the end of Jan 03 & welcomed in at the Feb meeting.

Hi Ladies,
I thought I would post a little of my update in here. Since I'm the kind of person that knows what she wants, and waste no time in getting in , I decided to email Internationals about possibly Friendly Venturing a chapter in my area. I got some info back, and have been calling Internationals all day, but the phone just rings out. But I'll keep on it, and keep everyone updated.
Quick question, and if it's out of line please forgive me, but I was wondering how exactly is each order set? Is it based on age or experience in BSP? (Meaning is Ritual of the Jewel for ages 18 - 30, and Masters for those 60 and up or is are they based on the # of years one has been a member of BSP?). This question is very important within my FV so can a member please get back to me about this.

Re: Not of line at all
Thanks. I'm hoping to have my mom be a pledge with me, but she is quite older, and we needed that clarification before we continued.

In May, I'm moving back to the area where I grew up. I plan to do a Friendly Venture there, and my mom is going to pledge, too.
I'm so excited that you are encouraging your mom to join the sisterhood!

I recently went to Hawaii and was wearing one of my BSP shirts and met a lovely lady from Canada that thought the shirt was my mothers and that I was just wearing it. (For those of you who don't know/remember me, I'm also one of the younger 20 somethings here.) I would love to get my mother involved in BSP, but I moved too far away from home for that. Aren't sorority sisters the family one chooses for themself, I think it's awesome when we chose the family we already have to be a part of the family we choose!

It's good to "see" you, Krista.
I'm so glad that you want to stay active with the sorority.

I am so happy...
I am so happy to see these neat new ladies so interested in sorority!
How wonderful!
Best wishes to all of you in your quests for FV and joining chapters.
My best girlfriend in sorority should be (let's hope) the next President of City Council tonight...I couldn't make it to the next meeting, but we have some ideas to get the membership flowing and focused on getting younger ladies interested in sorority.
And, yes, you and your mom, sister, aunt, grandma...any lady could be a pledge together, and any chapter, no matter what the ritual level, can take a pledge...it goes along with the Beta philosophy that membership in sorority is open and welcome to any woman, as we are a public and non-secret group that has a sisterhood founded on "Life, Learning and Friendship".
Keep the good interest stories coming!!
