Rush/Pledging costs
Hi!
I was just wondering if you have your PNM pay for costs during rush and/or pledge? If so, how much? Obviously, if you have 10 PNM, and want to buy them special things (i.e. special gift at the end, t-shirt, etc), there's no way you could afford $40 or even $30 per girl... it would be over $300 or $400 just for that. Anyone have any comments? Anyone do it differently? The same?

Hi, our pledge dues are $35 per girl. We give each of them a badge and two sets of letters when they get in. The badges are $20 each and obviously two sets of letters cost a lot for than $15. Part of that cost is covered by our school from our budget. For things like semiformal, pledges have to pay separetely for them and their dates if they wanna go, and then there's stuff like paddles. Paddles really add up, because when I was making mine, I went insane buying stuff to put on it. I think that with dues, paddles, semiformal, everything, I spent about $120 during pledging.

To pledge our organization it costs $40, then it's $30 once your you are active. We normally spend around $10-15 per pledge, so it can get pretty expensive especially when we have pledges drop once we buy them their equipment. We furnish them w/pledge pins, necklaces, their "box", a blank paddle to give their big, pledge books w/materials. Once they get in we give them a shirt that night

we're a bit pricier
Our girls pay $175. That includes all their pledge activities, t-shirts, pin, their formal/semi ticket, and all other sorority events. Its $25 more than sisters to cover all of the extra money that is dolled out for all of the pledge events and the things that they get as pledges.

Yeah, our pledge fees are $175 as well and are also $25 more then dues for actives. I think it is a good amount to keep the organization running and having fun

The pledges could have a car wash so they can pay for all that stuff

Wow... you all are really inexpensive. Prices have gone up since I rushed. I think I paid a little over $200, and that didn't include my formal bid. Now I think it's like $310 your first semester. HOWEVER, we are affiliates of Panhellenic so a good portion of those dues (plus 2nd semester members and so on) go towards that. Pays for greek week and whatnot.
But all of the money goes toward the organization collectively. It's so we don't have to throw down extra cash for mixers, props for performances and philanthropies, pins, shirts, gifts, binders, photocopies, etc etc etc. And we as a house fundraise and the delphia class fundraises as well to throw a party at the end of the semester.

Our pledge fee was $65 when I pledged, but it's gone up to $75. This covers lavalieres, i-night dinner, and all of the smaller things that we buy like snacks and movies for during Hell Week.

Pledge Costs
Our Panhellenic council makes PNMs pay $25 to register for rush. But our dues (Alpha Chi Omega) for pledges are $675 which includes the one time fees and everything (sister dues are $345). But of course we give them a bidday shirt. But, we also get them one of those cute plastic cups with an alpha chi pen, a sticker, a keychain, and just little things like that.

Oh, and just to add to the last one...
We also have an "Alpha sis", "chi sis" and "omgea sis". These are just random sisters that have weeks set aside for each in the beginning of the semester. Each sister has a limit of $10 per week. They buy cute things from the dollar store and decorate them and make signs and stuff. The new girls really feel welcomed.

Our dues are $25 a month... pledges included. Their pledge fee is $15, which covers materials for books etc. We don't have badges so that isn't figured into the cost. We pay for formal separately, and we hold a lot of fundraisers to take the edge off of the cost.

In my local, pledges paid $100, actives paid $50. The pledges' dues covered our pledge rings, badges, and pledge class letters.
We had a bit of sticker shock when we went national...

our local dues were 100 for active...and we ended up giving away most of our money to differnt greek organizations for their philantrophy projects.

our new members pay $170 thier first semester and then every semester after that its only 125. a huge portion of the dues go to panhellenic for thier dues and the rest goes to insurance. the extra 45 bucks the new members pay covers their books, pins, and other little things. i think we once talked about gettin all of them letters for initiation, but we just decided it is up to the big sis to get the letters.
