Another Recruitment Conselor Question

I was going to post this as a response to the other Rho Chi thread, but thought it deserved its own.

Are there any schools that, like my own, don't have a Rho Chi system in place?

At Hillsdale, each house has two representatives on PanHel, and they are the girls who escort the PNMs during recruitment, answer questions, calm fears, etc. They meet several times with girls intrested in going through recruitment before recruitment begins, and right from the start, all the girls know which GLO a particular PanHel member belongs to.

I had, in fact, never heard of a Rho Chi or a Pi Chi before I visited Greek Chat. The whole concept of "disaffiliation" was totally foreign to me, but it makes complete sense now. Are we the only school who doesn't do this?

On a side note, I see that at other schools, any sorority member who is a Resident Advisor/Assistant (whatever you call it) has to disaffiliate for the semester, and we don't do that, either. Our members are allowed to maintain active members while they are serving as an RA. Again, are we the only school who doesn't do the disaffiliation thing for the RAs?

We (Furman University) do have a Rho Chi (now Alpha Zetas) program, but our RA's and RA roommates and Freshmen Advisors who live on the freshmen halls do not have to disaffiliate. They are asked to not alienate anyone during the fall semester (we have deferred in January) and to not "rush" too badly. It is a fine line...
