Cool Deadwood on HBO

Anyone else watching this new series on HBO? I personally think it's awesome, even though I think they go over the top on swearing though I'm still ticked that Wild Bill died... I thought he was going to become an essential character.

Edited due to mistakes

I don't know, it isn't the best, to be honest. I gave it a chance, and it didn't keep my interest. I am still watching it though. I hate the saloon owner, and feel he should be dead.

When is HBO going to realize that their succesful shows take place in the here and now? Carnivale and Deadwood are both good, but people generally have a hard time getting into the mood for a western or dustbowl type of show every week... They would be GREAT if they were condensed into 2 hour movies I think. It is easier to relate to the modern shows, that is why they succeed, IMO...

Oh, I agree it isn't the best, but I think it's better than the Soprano's . Ditto on the Gem's owner, he's one major pain in the arse! I haven't gotten to see the 5th episode yet..*sigh* I was raised on Westerns as a kid..I think that's why I like this series really well.

My boyfriend was really addicted to Carnivale, I'll probably watch it when it comes back next season.

I agree with the comment made about the over the top swearing...it gets old! How many times can you say F*** in one hour? The BF really likes DW, but I'm a much bigger fan of Carnivale though... I can't wait till it starts again.

My husband is obsessed with this show. I can't really get into it although I am amused to see Larry (as in Hi, I'm Larry, this is my brother Darryl, and this is my other brother Darryl) on there. Maybe most of you are too young to know what I am talking about but he was on one of the great underrated TV shows of all time, Newhart.

OMG HAHAH! I didn't even realize that was him! I was just a kid when Newhart was on, but I remember him now!
