If you haven't heard of it yet, there are bills in both the Senate and the House of Representatives that, if passed, will allow members to donate tax-deductible funds to the AGD Foundation that can be sent to a chapter to improve the chapter housing. As you probably know, today, if you donate money to a House Association, the funds are not tax deductible, and alumnae are therefore less likely to donate.
The Fraternity is seeking your assistance in a national grassroots campaign of letter writing by all fraternities and sororities in support of the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act of 2005. This legislation will fundamentally improve the ability of college fraternities to improve our student housing by redefining existing tax law to allow tax-deductible charitable contributions made to national or local 501(c)(3) organizations (such as the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation) to be used at the chapter level for a broad range of purposes, including making safety and infrastructure improvements to our chapter houses.
You can to go
www.alphagammadelta.org and click on Happenings.
Please take a minute and ready the attached document
and then please send in a couple of letters. Even
if your chapter doesn't have a house, the passage of
this bill will help Alpha Gamma Delta as an organization and help us to become stronger. Please also forward this info along to other Alpha Gams that you know.
As most of you know, I'm not a political person by
any means (other than a govt employee, lol) but I will make sure that my congressmen hear from me.
**Both Ga Senators have signed on; but most of the Reps haven't..including the one that covers Univ of West GA! He definitely is getting a letter!!
