A QUESTION TO BGLO
It's a known fact that all BGLO have some sort of underground process (increasing the risk of hazing). Wouldn't it make more sense (and safer as far as hazing is concerned) to allow BGLO to once again pledge above ground?

I agree 100%. The problem is coming up with a process that allows you to pass on the traditions and history of your organization without putting that organization in finacial ruin. I believe that there are ways, unfortunately, many of the national chapters of our BGLOS don't see it this way, and they have implemented this travesty called MIP. For the record, I came in through MIP, and I am very apt to speak on the evils of this proces. It forces those who seek the full knowledge of what it is to be in that particular organization to seek out that information in other ways that MIP doesn't cover. Unfortunately it drives this process underground, and the number of hazing incidents hasn't decreased, but increased since it's inception. For every person on here who hates the process, GET ACTIVE!!!
Let the national chapter know. The only way to change things is from a grass roots movement of the membership. The leaders of each organization SHOULD serve at the will of the membership. This isn't always the case, and sometimes the leaders of an organization are moved by more than the best interest of the organization. But untill the membership speaks up, things will continue as they have.

What an excellent post. I think it needs to be read by the national offices, and all memebers, of every fraternity and sorority in the nation!

All: there is a new posting in www.stophazing.org that looks at the whole MIP/underground dilemma - it makes for good reading - and I think the point is well made that MIP, although undertaken with noble purposes, isn't getting the job done. Let me know your thoughts...

I don't come to this site as often as I used to but, it makes me feel food to see some people still care to talk about inportant things. As far as the original post, I SECOND THE MOTION!!!!!!
Thing is that most members of national offices do not want to be the one to say wht they know is right. Some say pledging did not work and it was chanced to MIP, but obviously, there must be something wrong with MIP if people are still pledging, and to be honest, very few chapters of all orgs. are using MIP.
If anyone is planning something to bring this up to NPHC, let me know.
After all the hard work, tears, sweat and long long nights, I do not regret my process- Hey!!!! SOME THINGS I LEARNED WHILE PLEDGING!!!!!

sorry for the spelling, but I was in a rush-
Also, remember it is all politics with this GLO. Must people say what they think the mayority wants to hear. I know of a particular org. suspended at a particular school but, during a meeting with the inactive members, old officials told a selected few how glad they were that they were suspended doing the right thing, PLEDGING that is and not SKATING. Yet, when they go back to national offices, they have to talk bad about their suspended frats/soros.
