If You Could Change One Thing...
...about your college years, what would it be?
I guess I would have to say that I would have looked for someone to settle down with instead of just "kicking it". All of my friends who are married met their husbands in college.

I would have been more willing to give of myself. If I'd been like that, perhaps I'd have a husband and child by now.

I would have continued on into Grad School, instead of sitting out and working.

I would have taken my time in school. You, know, stop and sit under our "tree of knowledge", chill in front of the cafe, chit chat in the library (NOT study) and all that there kind of stuff. Instead of taking soooooo many hours and graduating in 3 years. I probably would have stayed for 4 years.
ALSO,
I probably would have stayed on the "boys side" more often. Just trying to be a "GOOD GIRL" do what moms and sister said, STAY AWAY!

I would have attended a Historically Black College, I can distinctly remember my high school counselor saying (in so many words) that degrees from "those" schools were not worth the paper that they were printed on. As I look back, I KNOW that this person did me, and the other black students at my high school a GREAT injustice. Now that I am in the position to provide ACCURATE & NON-BIASED infromation to students (I'm a College Advisor) I make sure that they go where THEY want to go! Not excluding ANY school.

I would have went to college and law school...(hopefully,pray for me) right after high school. I waited 17 years to pursue higher education, and I must say it is a challenge. Going back to college at this time in my life does seems more rewarding and meaningful, however, I wish that I would have made the decision earlier. I guess,we all have to live and learn.

I would have to agree with Diva7401. I would have definitely attended another college. I too, was told the very same thing when I told my HS counselor I wanted to attend Morgan or Howard....."Are you sure that is the college you want to atten, I mean Syracuse University can offer so much more". To me it didn't matter if they could or not, but I stayed in the state and attended a college six hours away from home anyway, it just wasn't SU.

I would have enjoyed myself MORE and stressed LESS. I would have appreciated the years that I had with my friends while we were all together. I miss them now that we're apart.

I would have devoted more effort to grades--once a neo, my GPA dropped out of sight. I would have went out of state and/or to a HBC. I would not have dated anyone seriously. I would have pursued higher ed instead of joining the workforce.
