OH LAWD! Throwin' bows or maybe not...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I found myself in a situation today that I have never experienced. My line/crossing jacket (whatever you want to call it) was lying delicately on across a chair awaiting a warm body to snuggle up to...mine of course. Then, it happened. A new neighbor of mine decided that today would be the day she'd come over and talk my ear off. So, she walks in and plops herself ON MY JACKET! Booty all over letters!!!
Now, I have a couch but she HAD to have the chair, right?
My life went to slow motion and it sounded like I was in a tunnel. This horrible cry started in my chest and when it finally came out, I said "GET UP!" I really didn't mean to sound so vicious, and, like I said, it caught me by surprise. I snatched up my jacket and put it on to save it from any more attacks of the booty.
Ok, maybe I exaggerated the scene a little, but my description is what it FELT like to me.
Anyone else ever had problems like this? How did you deal?

IMO, you were right to make her get up...we dont put our letters on our behinds so we rightfully should expect others not to put their behinds on our letters
However, I am lmao at the scream because I could picture myself doing the exact same thing even if the person had no idea what they were doing...poor child

OMG... not tunnel vision.
We don't have line/crossing jackets in A Phi, but I know how you feel -- because that's how I feel whenever I see actives of any sorority who wear letters across their butts. SO Tacky.

Soror, I know how you feel! I flip out when people try to touch my letters. Do you have to touch them? Does that help you see how pretty they are? You can see the the Lavendar and Carolina Blue from far distances so why do you need to touch them?
Fingers have oil and germs, and there is no reason that should get on my jacket, t-shirt, sweatshirt, etc. I don't even touch them.....call me neurotic but, I can't help it.....

This is what I love about Greekdom, so many diverse believes. I personally wouldn't care less if somebody touches the letters. Now, the crest, that is a different stories. But then you have other chapters which are more stringent on who get to wear it and some won't let anybody except brothers touch the letters. A sociologist could easily write a PhD dissertation on the various customs of letters alone.

LOL! She didn't sit on my crest...that goes over my heart on the jacket. She sat on the right side where the letters were! I cannot STAND when people try to touch my crest or letters!! I wish my letters could defend themselves and jump up on a person's finger...CHOMP!

Yeah, I think you did OVER-REACT! There are some people that just don't know better...especially if it's an ACCIDENT. It's up to us as greeks to inform them about these unwritten rules we have about our letters.

I can just picture the incident in slow-motion...
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"
I'm sorry that girl sat on your letters. Even if she had no idea that this was a sign of disrespect, she should've had manners enough to know you don't put your behind on someone's personal property in general!!
I would hate when people would come up to me and try to tug at my jacket and say "lemme see." Ugghh! Or even worse, "can I try that on?"
As an active, for some reason it seemed like the guys were more interested in our letters. They would always joke and say that they were going to put them on and run around campus with them if they got the chance. Now how silly would that be?!
