Another reason I am glad to be an Alpha Phi
I was talking to my good friend who is in another sorority at another school. She had problems with one person over attending their chapter formal
The person obviously had issues, because they were assigning tables to sisters for the event. The girl and my friend have a little drama between them and my friend was assigned to the table with the girls no one else wanted to sit with. (She did not have a problem with it, just was put off that tables were assigned and she was never asked or told about this until the day before)
Has anyone ever heard of table assignments for a formal? The dinner was a buffet, so its not like they ordered different entres. I just feel it puts a stigma on some of the sisters and divides the group. Also, there were only two people and their dates sitting at a table for 10, so its not like they were looking after those girls feelings and sitting them with other people.
In the end, the same girl told her she could not go because they did not budget her in (She pays dues, had paid her fines, and rsvped for the event)
back to the point of this thread... Even though my chapter closed the year I joined, we never would have done something that singled out a girl and made her feel lesser than the others. It hurts because my chapter was regarded by other groups the same way as those two girls (and maybe my friend) were over the tables.
