Minestrone Soup

How do you pronounce it? Do you say it so it rhymes with "own," or do you say it so it rhymes with "pony?"

All my friends who work in Italian restaurants say it's pronounced "minestronee." Like, as in rhyming with pony.

It's min-ah-sto-nee. Rhymes with pony. Same with provolone cheese... rhymes with pony. A lot of people say that wrong too.
