Post Is it just me??

OK let me see how I can explain myself with yall thinking im crazy.

Well, About two years ago I was introduced to Greek life. I had never knew before then that there were org. like these. My cousin is a DST. which made me even more interested in this. Even in my high school people were talking about the sororities and Fraternities on college campuses. I then was introduced to AKA sorority. I always use to (and still do) tell my self that I dont think that I could get into a sorority. So I tried so hard to ignore the fact that they exsist. I could no longer do that when I went to college and had a roommate who wanted to become an AKA. This made me even more interested. Now I cant stay away from message boards like this that talk about AKAs and other sororities. I even had a chance to hang out with some fraternity brothers. Now im not sure if this is just curiosity or is this something I really want to pursue. How did you first know that you wanted to join a sorority and in even more detail, AKA (or which ever one you joined)?

If I offended anyone with my post I am sorry. I didnt mean or intend to.

First and foremost if you want to COMMITT yourself to an organization you should RESEARCH it. Not only that particular sorority but all of the Divine Nine. You must realize that what you may see often on campus such as parties, stepping, strolling, wearing para...thats only 20% of the organization. The other 80% is philanthrophy (sp?) Black fraternities and sororities are primarily SERVICE ORIENTED. That means that the community is the main concern and the purpose is to uplift it. Also be sure that your grades are up to par..GPA is most important. Get involved on your campus with different service projects sponsored by the Chapter that way you will come to meet members and when it is time to submit they will know you...because quite frankly hanging out with FRATERNITY brothers will do nothing when your hoping to join a SORORITY. Good Luck on your quest from an aspiring brotherfriend.

REMEBER:
Keep your GPA high!!
Continue your community service

p.s. I hope I have not offended any of the Lovely Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha...if I have you can sling softballs at me while I sit in a dunk booth with a pool of Acid. OUCH!! :-)
