We had a WONDERFUL time Saturday! Our theme was “It all started in a library.” For our philanthropy, we collected children’s books to donate to the YMCA Children’s Castle. It is an after school program which includes reading. There were about 90 registered to attend and 80 showed up! I can’t say if that is the largest turn out but as Co-chairwoman, I am very pleased. We estimated an attendance of ~50.
We thank the Ole Miss delegation for coming down as well as Donna for driving in from Mobile. Wasn’t she awesome, Katherine? Rene, our ANS, is a hoot and I am glad that she could come in from Texas. We also got some great feedback on our luncheon speaker. Danielle is a dietician for the New Orleans Saints and she spoke to us about the myths of dieting. There were some great questions during the Q & A period.
This year we added an awards component. We had chapter accolades in the categories of scrapbook and tabletop display. The judging was tough because everyone did an awesome job! We also had accolades for individuals. The award names are from AOII song titles. They are the Flaming Alpha (Outstanding alumna) and the A-O-Cutie-Pi (Outstanding collegian). These awards honor the persons who are living examples of our Ritual. Each chapter could nominate one person and each was recognized at AOII Day.
