should I rush???

Hi!!

In fall 04 I'll be a junior. I am currently at another school and planning to go to another school possibly UCR for a year because they have a better business program there. And if all works out, I plan to go there for grad. school. I am interested in some sororities (npc) and I want to know if I should rush. Thanks!! =)

i say rush. unless the orgs are really strict about classificiations, i say go for it. there are many many schools that are happy with taking juniors. it is a good experince to rush, so give it a go. there is no harm in trying.

You never know unless you try! There's lots of good advice on the boards here. And also remember that there are a million ways to enjoy college life and get involved on campus outside of being Greek, too. And more than likely, you will meet other Greeks through these activties, become friends with them, and possibly the opportunity to join through more informal means if the formal recruitment week isn't for you.

My bf pledged as a junior, as well as two of the best sisters I have in my sorority. Go for it!

My school isn't all too strict with taking freshmen. Sure, a few of the houses might cut or at least be weary of older people, but as long as you are yourself and get along with the sisters, I don't see why they wouldn't want to give you a chance!
In fact, my lil sis is actually a junior (though she's actually as old as a sophomore) and from her rush story, it sounded like she had her top choices! Go into rush with an open mind, be yourself, have fun, and I'm sure things will work out for you!

I rushed/pledged as a second semester sophomore at Berkeley, a school where most of the people who rush and pledge are "Frosh". I say go for it. It's one of the greatest experiences you'll ever go through. Our fraternity is even known to take seniors from time to time and have no qualms about juniors.

P.S. Of course, I realize now this is sorority related, but I had to throw in my two cents. Go for it kid.

I say go for it. I rushed in my early 20's as a junior and have never looked back. You only get this opportunity once in your life so make the most of it.

There are 5 NPC sororities at UCR. They are as follows:

Sigma Kappa (my sorority)

Kappa Kappa Gamma

Pi Beta Phi

Gamma Phi Beta

Delta Gamma

I would recommend that you research these particular sororities and their chapters to see if any one of them has something particular that you like or are looking for.

Barring that, there are also other sororities there on campus that I am sure have a lot to offer.

Have fun and good luck!

You've got nothing to lose by going through w/formal recruitment. Good Luck if you decide to go through.

Note: My status to UCR is not a transfer, it's a year extension to UCR. Then afterwards, EAP for me!

Does it change (rush) anything?

Does UCR mean University of California Riverside? Because if so CASIGKAP left out Alpha Chi Omega. I know that they are there because I met a number of their women this past fall....
