Scary Stories
Since it seems like we're all up until the wee hours of the morning ANYWAY, why not try to scare each other???
I'll start with a story that gives me chills (and is supposedly true)...
My friend told me a story about her father who used to work in a machine shop outside of her hometown (a VERY small town in South Georgia.)
Late one night or, perhaps early one morning, he was coming home and, as usual, would have to cross over the train tracks into the town. He drove along and as he approached the tracks, he saw a person with a light that looked like a lantern or hurricane lamp down the tracks on the right. He thought nothing of it because there were often "drifters" who frequented that area.
Her father crossed the tracks and was driving along when he started feeling strange. Unprovoked fear took hold of him. He looked in his rear view mirror. All was well. Then he turned quickly around to check out the rest of the car. Outside the passenger side window, in the back, he saw an elderly man, holding a lantern and running (or more appropriately) floating beside the car, looking straight at him. He veered off the road slightly but caught himself.
He didn't look again and drove all the way home. When he got there, he mustered up the courage to look again, but nothing was there.
