When is it time to go?

When/How do you realize that you are just not happy with your sorority anymore? Right now I feel that I am just not in the right place anymore... Does anyone have any advice on deciding if it is time to deactivate? I know its really only my decision, but I'm just stuck cause what if I make the wrong one.

Sorry to hear you're in this dilemma.

If you are in an inter/national organization, I urge you to review your chapter bylaws before making any decisions. Many members are unaware of procedures and the consequences of not following them correctly. I know in my organization, there is currently no reinstatement clause - no opportunity to rejoin the international organization if you resign your membership.

Is there an alumna adviser to whom you are close? She might be a great ear.

Is the situation that's causing you distress likely to be transitory, or long-lasting? What do you want to gain from/how do you want to participate in your org as an alumna? Do these things outweigh your current dissatisfaction? Is there anything you can do to improve the situation? Is being a member not allowing you to be your true Self (or encouraging the best parts of you to develop)?

(You don't have to answer these questions to anyone but yourself.) Hang in there. I know it sounds awfully trite, but, after giving it good thought, go with your gut feeling.
