R U Really Mad When Other BGLOs crack on your org. at a step show?
What's up all...
I just wanted to put a question out here...and find out if people are really offended when their organization is put down by another organization in a step show comp.
R do you take it in fun?
As an example, say XYZ sorority gets up on stage and says "no we are not first, but theres always a rough draft before the finished product"...and then throws out paper using the colors of the first sorority.
I'm not trying to make this one against the other...just trying to see where people stand.
Secondly, is there a line that should not be crossed...
If you are in a "traditionally" WGLO...what are your thoughts about "dissing" another org. if its seemingly meant in fun?

If you can't eat the ice cream, don't dish it out.
Depending on the circumstances, I probably wouldn't be offended. Such as when it's at friendly competitions (i.e. stepshows, Greek weeks, etc.)
I would hope that it was pretty obvious that it was all meant in fun, though, and that there was a lot of Greek love for all. Especially if there are non-members there.

I don't take offense at all.....heck, I've been know to laugh myself. I heard on of my favorite ones at a Zeta probate show: [referring to DST] "They've got more members than the Nation of Islam"

I basically feel the same way. Most of these things are just in fun, but like someone said earlier, don't mess with my founders now.
Them are my mommas and you know what happens when you call mamma out here name

I don't get mad at all. Sometimes they are too funny not to laugh! As long as it is all in fun! (And we all know that sometimes, orgs put disses into their show that is directed at a certain org out of malice or even at a specific person and I don't think that's right.)

(In your words) "traditionally" WGLO's are no different, we just don't have stepshows to throw off on one another. For NPC sororities on my campus, rush is a HUGE time to show our butts to each other. We come up with hilarious songs about each other and see who can out shout the songs at bid day. This is before the new rushees (I'm old school) are in the auditorium - when they come in we start singing greek unity songs...until after every rushee is announced to her new sorority. After that we all start up again - its really funny especially when we know we got a girl that XYZ was really dying to get. No harm no foul - in fact we talk about how XYZ had the best song and stuff. It was a big thing to do at Greek Week till they started penalizing the groups for non-unified spirit. (STUPID!!!) The fraternities will throw off on each other any time, anywhere. They do get serious though and a lot of fights happen on weekends and at parties. I would agree that as long as you aren't questioning founding or symbolism, these things are okay and can be pretty funny when we're all doing it together!
*Of course these are my views and do not necessarily represent those of my organization, sisters, or others *

Peace & Blessings
No, I don't take it personally.
It's all in jest, good humor.
I hate to see Sisters and Brothers take it personally though.
Yes, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. Like, you shouldn't diss the Founders of other respective organizations. That will truly cause a fight!

It's all in fun but there are lines that shouldn't be crossed. Because joking past a point is distasteful and crass.

Hey Ladies and Gentlemen:
I never get offended by playful, competitive "jokes" about my Sorority.
As most stated...Don't talk about my Founders, though... you betta not talk about my Founders. (voice of Benita on In Living Color looking out of her window saying "You betta not talk about Ms. Jenkins...I Loves Me Some Ms. Jenkins
I remember the Zetas at my school dissing pretty hard one step show we had on the yard.
They were imitating our "call" (not EXACTLY though)and imitating our "hand sign (pyramid)" right when they almost closed the pyramid, they changed the oo-oop to oo-oops!!! and twisted the pyramid up into some crazy twisted hand thingy. We were like "ooooooh." It was cute...we got 'em back though
You HAVE to be able to laugh. It makes me very mad to see people get offended and take it personally.
What would we have looked like waiting for the Zetas in the parking lot to get our scrap on about a joke they were making? Proud LADIES of DST? No thugettes...that's what!!!

Hey peeps,
I will say that I don't get offended. I will say that I feel that it is tacky to actually dis someone in a stepshow. I kinda expect it at probates becuz they are new. Most times they are really funny! There is so much to do in a stepshow, why would you waist 30-60 sec. dissing another organization? Are you not creative enough to do something different?
As far as crossing the line, I have actually seen probates where they were calling people out of their names....Haters, Scrubs, Freaky Hoes, Bats, Faggets, etc. NO! We shouldn't take it to that childish level of name calling people names.

Do you know how many times I've seen other frats diss Kappas in a show. I've seen things like pretending to twirl a cane but drop it. Also make fun of us for calling ourselves pretty boys. It doesn't really bother me cause I laugh at other people when they diss other orgs. I do believe there's a limit. Like when at probate shows other orgs. call other lines out as skaters and papers. First of all you really don't know another orgs. process. And even if you did, it's not your business or anyone else's. Also I went to an Alpha probate show one time and the Zetas there got mad cause the Alpha's greeted them last out of all the other sororities. They where ready to fight. They even started in on the AKA's. That was pretty embarrassing. Disclaimer: In no way am I ripping on Zeta. We all have members that bring shame to the organization from time to time. In the end, we all just need to learn to have a since of humor!

To diss in a stepshow is pointless. That's always been saved for block shows; at least around my way. I've always thought that dissing at probates was pointless...when I come out I want to show you how TIGHT I am. Not whether or not I can diss.
