So who's going to the MGCA conference in Chicago this weekend??? I can't remember who's all in our conference but it's something like from WI to TX, and WY to KY, but I know it includes a majority of chapters in the U.S. I'll be there representing my sorority! So hey, if you're going, don't diss locals -- because we got a lot of crap at the last MGCA conference.

Well I checked out the website listed above and it looks pretty interesting. If you've been there before can you please tell me some things that you got out of it? Just curious. Thanks

Ummm, I haven't been yet. But it is a conference where workshops are presented on all different aspects of Greek life from governance to philanthropy. Also, chapters apply for awards which are given out at the conference. I'll tell ya how it went on Sunday, though

I ended up not going because of a family emergency

But heard it was a blast, and our Panhellenic Council got the Public Relations Award, so that was cool.

hey all, I just checked out that website, but it seems interesting but it really doesn't say what the MGCA is. So maybe cause it's late I didn't read it well enough, can someone explain what exactly it is?

I was there last year, and it was the greatest conference I have ever been to! I will post more later to explain.

Used to go when it was MIFCA/MAPCA (It was usually closer, but a blast!) Chicago is a long way away. While most of the texas schools are members of MGCA, we actually formed another group called SGLC (southern Greek Leadership Conference) a few years ago, and have a conference somewhere in texas about the same time as MGCA. We usually have a couple of hundred attendees. We hosted it in 2000. I believe SMu hosted it 98. I dont know whos hosting it this year. I got a lot outta it the year I went. I was also a presenter of a recruitment workshop when my school hosted it.

Okay, I went to the conference in Chicago last year. It was not hosted by a particular school, just held at the airport hilton. It was great! Almost all of the speakers were Greeks, but they were also regional or national officers, motivational speakers, school administrators, or other professionals. They were so enthusiastic about thier topics. The entire thing had such a feeling of Greek brotherhood as though it was us against the world. Affiliations were really put aside, and I really felt like Greeks were helping each other instead of competing. There was also one lunch when everyone sat with other members of their GLO, and it was so cool to meet women from all the chapters. If anyone wants more information on specific topics, let me know. I still have my binder.
