sorority beads
Hi all!
I was just curious if anyone has ever heard of girls wearing "sorority beads." They're not big at my school but I've heard them referred to as "b**** beads" before. I was just wondering if I could could some insight into what kind of jewlrey this is, where you buy them, etc. Thanks for the info!

I am not sure if this is what you are talking about but...
In CA (And I would be curious to know if this were true for the rest of the country), the Tiffany Tag bracelets and necklaces (the chunk ones with the 'Return to Tiffany' tag) are trademark sorority girl....

No, not the Tiffany's bracelets... They're sterling silver beads. You may have already seen them, just never heard them referred to as "sorority beads." I mean, we even call black stretch pants (the jazz dance pants) "sorority pants" sometimes b/c that's what every sorority wears for homecoming dances. And this style (the beads) may have gone out of style where y'all are from a long time ago... we're a little slow here in the south.;-) Seriously, it takes trends a little longer to get to us for some reason... Probably because we're not near a big city like LA or New York where things spread a little faster... point being, these beads may have gone out of style a long time ago. I'd send you a pair if they weren't so expensive (well, not expensive, $25, but still...). Anyway, I've been looking for a picture, so as soon as I find one, I'll post it. You'll probably know what I'm talking about as soon as you see them.

Ooh, now I know what you're talking about... we had those in our greek store in town a couple years ago, but they never really caught on at my school. I wear mine once in a while, but probably not more than 2 or 3 times a year

I would have to say the Tiffany's bracelets are still very in, but it seems so 3 years ago! I love my bracelets, but received them before I was in the house, and now they are all over!
Also, the modular bracelets made my companies like Nominations and Zoppini are really big, they are "Italian Charm Bracelets" and seem to have popped up on every sorority's girl's wrist! Along with the Kate Spade bags...

*that's* what sorority beads are!!
I was wondering what the heck everyone was talking about!
Those beads were really popular when i was in junior high.. all the "cool" girls had a silver bead necklace with their name spelled out with those beads

I think you've got it wrong...
We've actually been having a discussion about these "sorority beads" on the Delta Gamma board. I don't think you guys have the right kind of necklace in mind. What CarolinaDG and dgqtpi are talking about are those necklaces that look like pearls, but they're actually silver beads. These were a big hit about 5 years ago. LOL. Not everybody in the South is that far behind (but if it gives you an idea - Kate Spades just got hot a year or so ago). Personally, I rather have the Tiffany's bracelet!
Back me up girls, if I'm right.

That's what I thought y'all were talking about, too.
The letter block beads are popular, too.... but mostly as keychains.
