jccLove, I totally agree and I plan on going to see this movie, did it come out yet?
Anyway, many say that it is derogatory towards blacks and even towards whites, but I can't see how it is any different from the UPN and WB shows were we are still made fun of, all in the name of comedy .....
The hugleys and girlfriends are not that funny, if you look at how we are portrayed.
I plan to support it (the movie), and as a matter of fact I commend Spike Lee on doing what he does best, and that is making films about blacks. He might not always produce the views we want to see but he is at least out there trying, he gets cool points from me!!

Lightbulb Bamboozled!!!!!!!!!!

Hey ladies, Members and fellow SFs. This question is directed towards all those people who saw the trailer for Spike Lee's new movie Bamboozled. I wanted to know how many of you plan on seeing it and what you think of the movie itself. I believe the trailer for it was shown before Kings of Comedy (I see so many movies I cant remember which one it was). I personally think a movie of this sort is long overdue, it will make people black white and all in between look at what they watch on television a little bit differently. I just wanted everyone else's feed back on this.

Hello all

I plan to see the movie Bamboozled. I always appreciated the fact that Spike Lee pushed the envelope and I believe this is another example of that fact. I think that this movie is an example of how we still have great strides to take before we are truly 'free'. I think this is one movie that we must truly go see and start dialogues on how we can change our behavior, our thought processes---truly understanding how important it is to have intergrity and a strong sense of self.

Who saw the interview last night with Spike Lee and Tavis Smiley on BET in reference to his movie release? The conversation was very interesting. Any thoughts????

Okay, Bamboozled is out now. I saw it last weekend in New Orleans. That was the only time that I had a chance to watch it because they aren't showing the movie in my college town nor in my hometown.
For those of us who have seen it, what did you think???

Shalom SlvrnGold~

I saw the movie the day of its opening. I enjoyed the movie...it made me think about some of the things we have done and continue to do whether out of ignorance or purpose.
I even took my 6-year old son...we discussed the movie and he (I kid you not) saw how some of the videos on BET (that we turn the channel from when they come on) resembled what was in the movie...By George I Think He's Got It!

BTW...it contained the Coon word. Yep, still researching it in order to provide sufficent material to the Pastor before meeting with him/them -- bear with a Sisterfriend on the Coon issue).

I am a Spike Lee Fan...(I wanted to minor in Film as an Under-Graduate)so basically I've enjoyed everything he's put on the Silver Screen.

Shalom

Hello all,
I saw the movie this past week and thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel that the trailor did not accurately depict what the movie was about. I felt that Spike, who never ceases to amaze me, hit on some very valid points. I was discussing the movie with my companion and we both thought that the movie may have had "too many" points. Meaning, I think that the average person may miss out on some of the things he touched on simply because there were so many.

Check my skills with the search.

Anyways, I just bought the DVD and I watched the movie twice the second time was with Spike Lees comments. I really recommend that everyone watch the DVD with the Directors comments because he brings up a lot of interesting things while watching the movie.

My friend was actually crying when Spike was making a comment about the racist products from the turn of the century. He said something to the effect of, "What kind of mind set can make a product like this? There is no doubt in my mind that the people who made this thought of Blacks as sub-human." That really hurt her feelings.

BTW, HERE is a link to buy the DVD.
