new season of sorority life

I'm excited that the new season of MTV's Sorority Life features a minority sorority, but when are they going to feature black greeks? I would love to see a BGLO on MTV, but I think we all realize this would likely never happen.

If so, sign your name, and even why, and I'll email it to MTV so mabey next season it may happen.
Will never happen, unless it is a local. NPHC (and for that matter, NPC/NIC) governing bodies don't want us being exposed like that.

Well at least its not just because MTV is not interested, which is why I thought they never had a season with black greeks, oh well.

This time around MTV will feature a multicultural sorority. I saw a picture and every shade of the rainbow is represented. Let's see how they act in front of the cameras . . . .

On another note, why do Sorority and Fraternity Life always feature the membership process during their seasons? Why not focus on the actual experience of being a member and forming relationships with your sisters or brothers? I guess that would be too much like original.

I hope they are not like the multicultural sororities we had or it will be DISASTER.

Anyone see the commercial? they have the black pledge knocking the heck outta the asian girl with a pillow. And boy does she look serious.

I haven't seen the commercials yet, but I'm excited about this new season. However...lovelyivy84 brings up a point...because most MCGLO groups I've seen, have a process similar to NPHC...so we'll see.

Unfortunately (and after watching the other two seasons religiously) that's when the drama is--during the pledge process. It sounds mean but nobody cares about how being a member is from day to day. I wish they would show a little about that, but again, that's not where the "excitement" is.

I'm also looking forward to watching "Fraternity Life" as well!

Talking

I'm CTHU at their pledge mom because she reminds me of some members I met while on campus. I was thinking that it was about time someone didn't "play nice" for the cameras.

I was thinking the same thing. MCGLO and NPHC have very similar processes. WE each stress discretion. So why is Zeta Sigma Phi putting all their business out there?

From what I have seen (and this is a generalization) many West coast LGLOs and MCGLOs are more similar to NIC/NPC organizations, while the Midwestern and Eastern LGLOs and MCGLOs are more similar to NPHC organizations.

I didn't see the show, though.

From what I saw ont he show their process is more NPC than NPHC

*dodging that bad press bullet*

I actually like the way they seem to do things. THe sisters seemed down to earth and sensible so far, in the few minutes of the show I caught.

The pledges have to get 2003 points to become actives. They get points by interacting with actives and answering questions about the sorority. So far the only "hazing" shown was a pledge making breakfast for a sister.

I give them a thumbs up so far, unless I missed something huge and awful in the first 15 minutes that I missed.

Really? What happened? I only caught like 10 minutes of it in the middle.

Good assessment. I know little about NPC, even though I went to USC (back in the 1980s), but I think what we saw of this group doesn't resemble NPHC orgs.

Sensuret -- Multi-cultural orgs. weren't really around when I was in school. But I have a feeling that your assessment is on point. I would think that East Coast MCGLOs would look more like us, because perhaps black Latinos were more involved in the founding and establishment? Just a theory.

Question

this season will be interesting, i'll watch it. i agree, their process is not like an NPHC one. the only similarity i saw was pledge-mom (i think that was her title) in the sorority jacket. that Sister, i forgot her name, reminded me of the school marm from Little House on the Prairie and Coral/RWNYC2 (i thought that last night). the glasses have got to go.
overall, i'm not feeling this sorority, personally, and the pledges, they seem okay. perhaps they're there for the sorority and not to be on MTV (i'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt). but Sharifa and Meena, will they last? we'll see...
did anyone catch FL2? it was like ANIMAL HOUSE 2003. even the president looked like one of the guys in the movie (if you've seen the movie, you might know who i'm referring to). they were not impressive, too much liquor and it looks like not enough community service also, was it me or did one of the Rushees look like Kenan/Kel (i don't know who's who)?
