Question AME Zion

I was wondering if there are any AMEZ denomination people here. I would like to learn more about your denomination. I am saved and have been for some years now, yet I am nondenominational and recently started dating a pastor of a AMEZ church which means if I am one day a "first lady" I will have to know about the religion and be equally yoked with him.

Question

Why not ask the pastor? Who better to ask?

I've asked him and he's teaching me things but I wanted to know from a variety of aspects maybe there's someone out there who is nondenominational like myself and feel there is no need to join a denomination to be with someone of the denomination. But my chief reason for asking is so that I can get more than just his opinion I need like extra confirmation, it's like if you pray and ask for something don't 6 of 10 you ask God for a little something to let you know he's heard you or you look for something to know it's the real deal. It would be like me asking why become a member of this sorority when I can do a majority of the ame thing as a regular person. I would go to a member to get the info but would I just go by that one members info or would I search for more.

I feel ya.

I was a member of the United Methodist Church, but a couple of years ago, I "came back home" to become a Baptist!

Congratulations in advance on the wedding.

I might be a "First Lady" one day, if so, Pray that I have the patience and mindset to uphold the position.

But anyway...I'm emailing you for more information concerning the denomination.

CodeBlue,
I am not AME Zion, but I was wondering what kind of questions you have about the denomination. ARe they doctrinal questions or worship style type questions? A friend of mine recently became a member of a denomination that I was not familar with. I was a little concerned for her, so I just typed in the name and got a wealth of information from the web. I was even able to find a forum for current and former members to get some additional insight. You may want to do an internet search on AME Zion. I am sure you will get a wide variety of local church websites that will be able to help you in gaining information. You may be able to find a first lady or 2 on line that will be able to answer your questions from that perspective. I wish you the best.
