Outlook Express is soooo annoying!

For some weird reason, I get a tab now when I'm replying to an email sent to me. The margins have been changed and I can't seem to change it back. Has this happened to anyone before?

Go into the Tools menu in Outlook Express. Select "Options". Click the 'Send' tab.
you'll see the part which lists the choices for "Mail Sending Format".

You'll probably have it set to plaintext. If not HTML - just depends whether you like to send emails with funky fonts or classic plain text. Anyway, to attempt to fix the problem, change the settings back to these defaults:
Click on the Plain Text Settings button you see. The default settings (i.e. the ones on mine, unchanged from default as I don't use the program) are:
Mesage Format - MIME
Encode using - None.
Wrap text at 76 characters when sending.
Indent original message with > when replying or forwarding (this ones a matter of personal choice).
Click OK.

May as well click on the adjacent HTML settings button too. Defaults are:
Encode using - Quoted Printable
Send pics with messages & Indent message on reply both checked.
Wrap text at 76 characters when sending. (It will be grayed out but if it's grayed out and reads a different number, change the encode method from quoted printable to none then put in '76' and then change it back to quoted printable to re-gray it out.
Click OK.
Click Apply then OK.

Sounds complex but is just really matching up the settings with what's above. The post will probably only make sense if read with Outlook Express running so you can see the things discussed above in it. If the options you have don't match those above, it'll be because we have different versions in which case I probably won't be able to help further. I think the main reason for the 'margin' change is your software has changed settings from 76 characters. Hope it helps.

ETA: Assuming settings are re-confirmed as above, when composing a message you can also go to the Format menu and 'Decrease/Increase Indent'.
Did just that, and I'm still getting that weird tab. It's only in the past few days that it's been like this.

---email

line 2 of my reply. la la la.
>> blah email i'm replying to
>> blah line 2
--end email

And which version is it?

I'm using version 6. Basically what's happening is that when I'm replying, everything appears like this

<Tab Space> I'm replying to your email

<Tab Space> -----Original Message--------

rather than this:

I'm replying to your email

----Original Message-----

Hope this helps!

ETA line? All I know is that I didn't have to do a thing before this weekend to shift everything to its normal margins.

Setting text? I thought you could only do that if the reply is in HTML? I'm getting the tab in plaintext as well.
