Nicest thing a Sister/Brother has done ?

OK... I was just thinking
I know this year for my birthday my roommate.. (also a sister) arranged it and had like 17 of my sisters and some other friends at my favorite restraunt for dinner and they all suprised me when I walked in and put a princess crown on my head and had ordered my favorite drink for me... I also had my lil sis, who was at home in bed sick, come pick me up from early from work one day when I was SUPER sick as well and come chill and eat soup and watch real world re runs with me ... SO what's some of the nicest things your sisters/brothers have done for you ?

About 10 of my sisters came to my mom's viewing and stayed for the whole thing. That's two hours, dinner break, two more hours. I am an only child, so it was basically my dad and I hosting or whatever you would call it. After hearing the zillionth person say "she's in a much better place" it was a nice respite to go sit with them for a few minutes and have them make what I'm sure would be considered inappropriate comments for a funeral home.

I loved my chapter because of this stuff. I loved the fact that brothers went to classes for pledges, read books they didn't have to and helped them study. I loved when one of the younger brothers felt sad that he was skinny and 6 brothers signed on to take him to the gym and help him learn. I liked that every single brother hugged one of our brothers when we found out his father had cancer. And I loved when I went through trouble with a girl how I'd have guys right there with me buying me pitchers of honeybrown and just helping me out.

When my mother was very sick in the hospital we had a lot of family planning to come to town (because it was apparent that we were near the end). Well my dad had been going between home, the hosptial, and work for about two weeks and the house was really starting to look bad on the inside. He just didn't have time to clean up at all.

I went to the first 5 minutes of chapter that week and told everyone the condition of my mother and what was happening. I asked if I could get three or four volunteers to help clean my dad's house with me. It wouldn't take that long and it wasn't like gross dirty, there were just piled up dishes, etc...not like dust globs everywhere...

Well I headed back to the hospital and then back to my apartment to try to get some sleep. Before I went to bed I checked my e-mail and had 15 or 20 e-mails from my sisters asking to help clean the house.

That Thursday 36 sisters showed up and the house was cleaned in 12 minutes flat. Literally. Right down to having the toilets scrubbed. It was amazing.

A few short weeks later, over Spring Break, my mother passed away. 12 sisters came home from their spring break adventures early to attened her funeral. After all, she was their sister too.

After my little brother was initiated, he bought me two heavy lead crystal tumblers (made in Poland) for my birthday. Another brother accidentally dropped and broke one right away, but I still have the other and I make a drink for my little brother whenever he visits. It's been 30 years and it's our own little ritual.

He happened to be visiting the day my brother-in-law died in 1979 and also the day my mom died in 2000. I tell him he's bad luck, and he knows I'm kidding. Then we pull out the glass and I pour him a scotch.

OK, so maybe this story is really corny, but bear with me.

First off, I am bipolar. I'm fine when I take my meds, but there was a while last year when my doctor took me off all my meds for a while while trying to find out what was causing my other medical problems. So obviously, without the medicine, I wasn't coping too well with life. My and my lil sis had a conversation about depression, because I found out she too is bipolar(and I didn't know before then!), and we talked about how it felt when nothing and I mean NOTHING could bring you out of that pit of despair you feel when the downside of bipolar kicks in.

Easter rolls around. She gives me this little stuffed bunny that laughs when you squeeze it. She told me, "I thought you might like this so when you get sad, maybe it'll cheer you up." I know that might sound corny, but I think it's the sweetest, most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given me. And I *do* squeeze it when I get sad, and I always think of her.

Ok so I have cardiac disease, I had open heart surgery when I was 4 and now I'm pretty much good except for this year I started having heart palpitations. I was scared but I don't like doctors and so I didn't want to go to one. One of my sisters came to my room and literally dragged me to Health Services where they told us I had to go to the hospital. This girl had a paper to write and then we had a mixer that we were all really looking forward to, and she took me to the hospital anyways and was there with me for about 6 and a half hours while they monitored me. She kept on yelling at the doctors and nurses because she thought they weren't paying enough attention to me. By the end of the night, I thought she was going to get heart palpitations. The doctor literally came up to her and asked her if she absolutely had to be there because she kept on asking him all these questions and all. She ended up not writing the paper and not going to the mixer because of me.

This is nothing compared to some of the above stories but....

My pledge sister knew I wanted a lavalier and I couldn't afford it. She was planning from Oct to get me one for my birthday (which is in Dec). When she gave it to me I was shocked....then I found out how long she was keeping it from me.
