Attire for Regionals?

Would any Soror please email me and let me know what you took/are taking as attire for Regionals? Please give me specifics like kinds of outfits, colors, etc. I'm stumped! Thanks!

Sorors:

Business attire (like you would wear to chapter functions) is de rigeur for plenary/workshop sessions, though I've seen sorors in casual 'nalia (???) at these events. The awards banquet is semi-formal, though I've seen sorors in full formal wear, with enough sequins to make me wonder whether AKA has stock in a sequin factory! The public meeting, I can't remember, it's been so long since I've been. To be safe, I'm wearing a suit that I would wear to a business dinner/evening event. Other events specify what type of clothing to wear.

I know I don't even have to tell you no hot mama gear allowed!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and productive experience at regional conference this spring (and for some, summer)!

Basically business Casual ... some dress more uppity, while others well you know. I treat events like this like I do WORK/client commitments I dress to impress. There usually are parties every night but still be careful of how you dress, seasoned Sorors are watching, and word spreads quickly.
The gala or dinner should be formal or after 5 attire. Don't forget white dress and white stockings ....you know what for!!!

D***. You mean I can't wear my halter and biking shorts? They're pink and green.

I am soo glad this topic came up, I have been wondering the exact same things. Can some one email me as well. Should the suits be pink or green? Are pants suits ok for workshops? What type of parties are there like get down and put your thang down with the young crown parties or casually manuvuer around the room smoozing with older sorors? I am stumped. I am going to ask the members in my chapter as well but it is good to have you guys opinions as well.

There is no color scheme to most (not all) events...check your registration packet, it will specify any events for which there is a color requirement (see Soror LadyAKA's post). Of course, sorors WILL be rockin' the pink and green attire at most events (I've already got my green suit, citrus green leather jacket and pink loafers...and I'm on the lookout for a pink suit!). If your pockets are thin, though, don't run out and buy up a whole bunch of pink and green clothes...it's more important, especially for young/new sorors, to be there, period (the color of your clothes don't matter).

For parties, that depends on the sorors who put them together. Some are more hype than others, but never doubt that more seasoned sorors are checking out the scene, and are NOT amused by skantchy outfits, strolls and the like. Not that ANY GC sorors need to be told this, I'm sure!

At all casual events, 'NALIA RULES! So neos, bring on your SP '01 jackets, shirts and the like! If I could find any of my old stuff, I would def. be rockin' SP '90 up in the place (I might just buy me a letterman's sweater, with all my info, just like I always wanted while I'm down there!).

If any younger sorors need additional info, please make sure to ask/email a more seasoned soror who's been to these events.

Sorors attending Narc 2001, raise your pinky's ... shall we meet up?
I know we had another post on this but I can't find the exact one... sorors were saying who was going, but it is not listed under NARC, so Soror AKA2D please forgive me ;-)

Sorors (especially the new ones):

You should at least try to bring ONE WHITE (For some Regions Off white is okay) DRESS/SUIT! The kind you wear with the Sorority badge. Most important... You never know if you need to attend a "special function" with that kind of dress...

I just say this because a long time ago, some of my undergraduate sorors were not properly "schooled" on appropriate attire for Regionals, Clusters and Boule and felt very, very left out. Thank GOD, they have tons of vendors!!!

you never know when you'd might get a run in your hosiery...

I know this isn't directly related to your regional meeting, and I hope no one gets mad at me for asking this, but I have a question. Does AKA have any directives regarding what's considered "badge attire"? Because I saw this woman wearing her badge with a jogging suit (it was at a community event). I know this is verboten with my group, and I know of at least one NPHC group with a similar directive. Is it seen as disrespecting the pin, because there are alternatives to wearing your badge if you want to advertise your affiliation (ie, a button)?
