Rae Carruth
Sorors and sisterfriends, I was wondering if any of you has heard the latest on Rae Carruth. I heard on the news a couple nights ago that he is requesting visitation with Chandler in the Mecklenburg Co. jail. It was also reported that his most recent child support check for this child bounced. There were also comments from the child's grandmother who has temporary custody to the effect, that if he cared about his child he would make sure the support was paid. I don't know if this is what she actually said, but this is what was reported.
Your feelings and comments?

I'm trying to figure out how he is expected to pay child support while sitting in jail. Most of his belongings have already been repossessed. The man has nothing! I wouldn't want anything from him.

It's my understanding that he has some money and assets left and that Cherica's mother is seeking to have the assests liquidated to provide support for Chandler. Also, remember he has a child in California whose mother was receiving nearly $42,000 a year in child support. Since Rae has been in jail, I haven't heard anything about the other child or his mother. And maybe there is nothing for her to say right now, but I haven't heard anything lately of Rae's mother, who was very visibile and vocal early on.
I can understand your feelings about not wanting anything from him considering the whole situation. There may come a time (very soon) when he will literally have nothing left. Then what?
I'm wondering if this request for visitation was his idea or if he may have been advised by his lawyer to make it look good.

Let's not judge Mr. Carruth. I am just a little concern about the mother's role (maternal grandmother) in this entire situation. I have been following this story closely. The thing that seems to bother me is, both Chancellor's maternal grandmother & grandfather are both fighting the issue of custody/support, but neither one of them raised their daugther. The grandfather did not pay childsupport for his daughter. Shouldn't this all play a huge part in the decision as to who will really care for the baby. Pleased ladies feel free to give your view.
As far as childsupport goes, I just don't know how Rae is expected to pay anything sitting in a jail cell. Chancellor is his baby but not his sole responsibility. The only one that seem to be level headed in the entire ordeal is Rae's mother and father. Chancellor should live with them. May sound crazy, but we are talking about the stability of a child. Rae's mother just seem to best suited to care for the child.
Don't beat me up!(Smile) just give your opinions.

Has anyone else been following the trial? Today is day 2 of Brett Watkin's testimony, and everyone, although I had my doubts initially, I really feel that the man is lying through his teeth. I don't think "Rae Rae" is completely innocent, meaning, I think he may have been involved in some other things, but why would Brett ask "what do you mean by 'flipped off' ". C'mon, he of all people knows what that means. Then when they brought up his statement "I hope the b---- dies", he stated "I was talking about that b---- (referring to Carruth)." Whatever. And the kicker for me was when he described the transaction between him and Rae "... He said 'I need your assistance in the destruction of the baby'" C'mon, who talks like that!? Can we say "scripted"? And finally (and then I promise I'll get off of my soapbox), (statement to the jury) "...I've done my part". Yep, he most certainly has - no one made him pull the trigger - he chose to kill Cherica, but I forgot, he's just an innocent victim that's up there bragging about setting people on fire.
If it weren't so sad, I would've laughed. Ugh.

Rae is a professional football player (former?) whose girlfriend/baby mother was killed. It happened this summer, if my memory is correct. I think, she was pregnant or something. So he is on trial now, and the person who did it, or was to DO IT is now "turning" if you will on Rae on the stand. Saying that basically, Rae MADE him do it. Mind you, this guy is not this innocent angel. He has been accused of doing ALL kinds of horrendous crimes.
Please, someone, correct me if I am wrong.
Soror, I sent you an email a few minutes ago..

If you'll do not mind, I would like to make a comment. For those of you are following this trial, please tune in to Court TV. I think the trial will resume at 8:00 am. I am on Christmas break, so I am really enjoying my TV.

Well I follow the trial daily..now that school is out I watch it faithfully... Van Brett Watkins is so scary...When I first saw him I got nervous in my own livingroom just thinking about him being the triggerman...I dont know if Rae is innocent or guilty...If he is guilty..He puts up a good front...I follow the trial because I have met Rae personally...it bothers me that someone I have met may die on in the death chambers...what if he is innocent but is found guilty...i dont want to think about that...I just have to trust that everything will be just fine and that I will maybe see him on the NFL field again and not have to look at a past photo of me and him...

You're right AKA2TD. Rae is a former Carolina Panther that was dating a girl named Cherica Adams. Adams became pregnant and the rumor is that Rae did not want her to have the baby. On the night they went out, they got into their own vehicles, Rae in front, Cherica behind. Then Watkins allegedly pulled up beside her and killed her. He's saying Rae Carruth paid him to do it, but if I'm not mistaken, the defense is Watkins wanted money for drugs from Carruth and when he asked Cherica where Rae was, she flipped him off & he shot her. But they're saying Rae didn't even know this was happening and drove away. ... The details are endless. Not to mention his flight this summer to Tennessee (?) where they found him hiding in the trunk of a car.

OES,
The way the world is TODAY, I would NOT put ANYTHING past ANYONE! If I have met them or NOT!
There is a 50/50 chance of his guilt or innocence in this matter.
Looks can be very deceiving. So BE CAREFUL when making that presumption.
I hope that justice prevails. But there is something to think about...why were they in 2 DIFFERENT CARS...sounds like that TuPac thingy...
2 lives were lost here and regardless of who Rae is/was, someone is RESPONSIBLE.

FYI...
He was found guilty yesterday of 3 counts (shooting into an occupied vehicle, planning to kill an unborn child and conspiracy to end a life)and not guilty of 1st degree murder.

... meaning that he won't get the death penalty. So that's good, I think.
