I am not getting a few days off like in college since i'm in the real world now. Add to that the fact that my family never celebrates so girlfriends usually end up taking me to their parents and well there is no girlfriend this year. So me thinks I will be using thanksgiving to sleep.

Work is giving Thursday and Friday off. Plus, of course, I have the weekend. I'll be leaving after work on Wednesday to visit my parents. Luckily, I don't have to fly since they live about 200 miles away from me. I just drink lots of caffeine and do the 3+ hours drive.

My friend's family lives in Los Angeles and she's been trying to find decent airfare over there for Turkey Day. So far, no luck. Airlines raise their prices this time of year since everyone is flying to see family. The cheapest roundtrip ticket (from Orlando to LA) she found was through Orbitz. It's on Delta Airlines and I think roundtrip it's a little over $300. Considering my roundtrip ticket from Orlando to San Diego just this past March on United was only $209, that's a nice price increase the airlines have put on.

we're going to new york and will probably go out to dinner with my cousins for thanksgiving, and then going to jersey for the weekend for a bat mitzvah.

I can't wait for Thanksgiving break. It is the only time of year I see my whole family. I am trying to persuade my boyfriend into coming with me this year. We see his family all the time but hardly ever get to spend a lot of time with mine. Do any of you have that "splitting holidays" problem?

Sigirl - Have you tried using the Orbitz "deal detector?" I set it up for a trip I am taking the first weekend in November. If prices drop, they will send me an email, if they don't...then I plan on just driving. But, at least I don't have to check back on the prices every day. It might be a helpful tool for you to use for your Atlanta flight.

my birthday is the monday before thanksgiving, and i get thursday and friday off from work so i am taking that entire week off to fly from NJ to new mexico to see my parents as well as all my friends from school. i'm really excited. i haven't been there since last christmas.

also airlines ALWAYS raise their fares for thanksgiving. this year i used a ticket voucher i had from last thanksgiving and i'm flying for free, but it would have cost about $300-$500 if i had had to pay for it.

Si-girl,

Definitely do the deal detector from Orbitz. I am using that right now to track a good fare home for Thanksgiving! I was actually thinking about going on a trip, but it looks like the folks are gonna make me come home... I guess i'll see all my friends from High School which will be nice.

I'm not going home, but I'm going to spend the holiday with Mr Munchkin's family (we're starting a trend of visiting one family one holiday, and the other the next to get certain family members used to the fact that our first holiday priority from now on is to be with each other).

I'm paying considerably less than I would normally pay for tickets--my last class of the week is Tuesday morning, so I'm headed out that evening, and I'm returning the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I saved over $300 just by traveling on those days, and avoiding the Wednesday-Sunday crowd.

Since I just moved to NC (not to mention that I don't get much time off) my family is coming to me this year and I'm going to cook dinner in my new (relatively) apartment. It should be a good time. I'm already having trouble getting a flight for Christmas so I've decided to stuff it and just drive it from NC to PA, I'll wind up getting there sooner and I'll have a car to get around with while there. I'm excited for my family to come hang out with me here at Thanksgiving though!

My brother down in Alabama is comming home for Thanksgiving. I'm glad too because if he didn't, my family was all going to fly to be with him (except me cuz I have to work the next day). So thank goodness I don't have to spend it alone

You guys are lucky. My sister is in Texas and won't be able to fly home (to PA) until Christmas. That means I have to wait another two whole months to see her unless the travel gods are looking kindly on me and the deal detector matches my price (of $150). Its all I can afford!!!

I'm going home for Thanksgiving! Mr. KillarneyRose and I are packing up the kids and the doggies and heading to Pittsburgh to celebrate with my family. This will be the first time in years we haven't had it at my place so this should be nice and relaxing!

The only part I'm not looking forward to is that damn PA Turnpike; worst length of road in the country as far as I'm concerned

Well, we're not going home home, but we're going to visit family.

Me and the mom's are loading up the burban and driving from SD to Denver to spend T-day with my uncle there.

Sis is flying in from State College and we're taking a good old Kitsopoulos family roadtrip. <shudder> brings back memories from my youth that i had conveniently blocked out.

HOPEFULLY, we'll be able to get up to the slopes for a day or 2. Man i haven't been skiiing since HS, i can't WAIT to get up there.

KS 361 hours of night skiing i want to do at Keystone
