I'm assuming you mean, "wife", right?

It's been a while since I've seen MTV's long and extended version of the video, but it started to rain when Stephanie Seymour (Axl's then GF who played his bride) got pushed into the table when she and Axl were cutting the cake. This resulted in accidentally stabbing herself. That was how I've always thought she died.

But then I coulda just dreamed this up because it's been a long time since I've seen "November Rain" in its entirety.

Still one of the best vids I've ever seen.

Well, this is the question of the 90's. My friends and I would come up with so many different reasons, never knowing which one was correct. We thought the most reasonable one was that she was struck by lightning. We speculated that she died from a broken heart. We also guessed that she was crushed to death in all the excitement of trying to escape the rain. I've never heard the one about her getting stabbed though - but that sounds the best so far!

The whole video is based on a short story, but we were never able to find the actual story anywhere. Does anyone remember that story's title?

Wasn't half of her face messed up? I seem to remember that they had the mirrored casket because the other half was dogged up.

There is discussion on it here:

I didn't read the whole thing, but from what I did the consensus seems to be that she shot herself in the head, thus explaining the mirrored casket.

Hey! Here's a link to the short story, "Without you," by Del James.

This question has always stumped me too. I thought she broke her neck in the rain. Now I know differently.

I dunno why, but I had always thought she OD'ed. But I haven't seen the video in YEARS! Probably never will be able to see it again since MTv barely shows videos anymore

I always thought she was struck by lightening.

That seems more logical, than she was stabbed because someone pushed her into table.

OMG!!!!

This brings back so many memories. We would sit around analyzing this video FAR longer than we needed to.

I'll read all the stuff later, but my idea was that she was fooling around with Slash and Axl found out and killed her.
