Sleeves can never be too poofy.

Or hair for that matter. Let's bring back the decade of more is more!

My best friends sister is in the back row with the really poofy sleeves. She is gonna die if she sees this!

PLEASE GOD NO!!! The 80's are over...let's keep it that way!

I know alot of the toys are coming back...Rainbow Brite, Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony and I for one am thrilled...but let's stick to just the toys and NOT the fashion, we already made that mistake once!

LOL. I so agree. I saw a woman who looked in her 30's in a Strawberry Shortcake t-shirt on the train the other day.

That's just plain wrong.

LOL. That reminds me, so many people who were 20 or 30 in the 80's still dress like they are 20 or 30 in the 80's.

Then there are also the people who are in their 80's who dress like they are in their 20's LOL. OK going off subject, i'll stop so I don't get flamed LOL.

I agree that is just wrong on many levels.

But wouldn't it funny for so see the look on new members faces when they go through the pledge ceremony and everyone is wearing a big ol' white 80's prom dress! You must have the white high heel shoes and really shiney panty hose too otherwise the effort is just wasted.

Or even better-save it until initation. When that blindfold comes off-OMG-they would just die right there.

I can imagine the panicked phone call home now "Mom! I just went through the weirdest initiation!"

And think what poor mom would be thinking!

LOL. That reminded me of an incident where I was invited to a party where we had to wear the UGLIEST dress we could find. I chose to wear the bridesmaid dress a friend had made me wear for her wedding. It was a shiny turquoise with POUFFY sleeves, and a sweetheart neckline. To make matters worse, it had a bow on the hip and a matching hat. Lucky for me, when my friend saw me in it, she laughed & said she couldn't believe she made us wear those dresses. It was awful!!!

As I've said before a lot of 80's dress was "preppy" and is still worn all the time today - you might have heard of a little store called Brooks Brothers. I still occasionally wear some of my old polo shirts because a polo is a polo - they're still made the same way. MTV videos do not equal what normal people wore.

There were some hideous prom and bridesmaid dresses - however, I think those were preferable to some of the skintight things with bare midriffs you see today. The style before that was Little House on the Prairie. Blame the puffy sleeves, bouffant skirts etc on Princess Diana - her wedding was what really changed things.

I looked like the women in those pictures when I was in high school and college. Don't be hating cause we looked good! You're just jealous since you can't pull it off. just kidding! I really need to scan my prom and formal pictures for your amusement.

I was talking to my hair stylist the other day and she said that supposedly 80s hair is coming back (albeit with a modern twist)! We were both horrified at the prospect...remember how your arm used to fall asleep from curling and spraying and ratting your bangs???

Oh, believe it! GeekyPenguin and I saw a couple of girls at H&M with 80s-type hairdos.

While their hair was still straight and not permed, they had their hair pulled half back and the front part was puffed up and held back with bobby pins.

I wish I had a camera to explain it better. But definitely a pseudo-80s look.

Things about the 80s that are coming back that I'm actually happy about:

-popped collars
-aviator sunglasses
-Prince (yes, I know he never really left, but he's back to his 80s goodness)

Things about the 80s that I wish would have just stayed there:
-elbow patches on shirts and jackets
-the Cocaine fingernail

Those pics are too precious!! Poufy dresses never went out of style here in Texas. Texas royalty (queens, duchesses, and princesses) and debutatnes wear poufy dresses every year. All one has to do is look at the society pages.
