Dorm pets
Does anyone else have a dorm pet? Mine is a betta named Maurice. He is wine and blue!

My roommate last year had a betta...I stick to plants. I have 5 and they all have names. (Pretty sad, I know...)

Nine years ago, I had a pet goldfish that I got as a rush souvernir. I originally named it after the sorority that gave it to me, but changed it to Alpha Beta. About a week later, the fish went belly up. Poor little fishy!

I had a Siamese Fighting Fish (I think they're the same as Betas). His name was Bruce Lee (bc he was kick ass!). I loved that little fish. I brought him back home with me the summer after freshman year. He didn't like car rides very much so I left him at my parents so he wouldn't have to endure another 3 hour trip back up to Orlando. Sadly, Bruce Lee passed away my junior year. Sad day.

My freshman year when I lived in the dorms I had fish, of course, but my roommate and I had a cat for about 2 months. we felt really bad because she couldn't go out and walk around so we gave her to our friend whose family lives about an hour south of here.

I never had a pet. We weren't allowed to have any pets other than fish. I really wanted a kitty but I didn't think it would be fair to the cat (because I'd have had to keep her shut up in my room most of the time) or to my floormates (some of whom were allergic).
I know a guy who lived on a different floor in my dorm, who did have a cat. He named the cat Fish. That way, when the house manager challenged him about having a pet, he could truthfully say, "I only have Fish."

You wanna talk horrible?? I had a demonic (not really, but I hated her...Daisy, for anyone that remembers) roommate that killed our betta in our house. She put him, STILL ALIVE, in the kitchen sink disposal. I could've killed her. How rude.

I always wanted a pet, but our rules didn't allow it. My friend did take in a cat and kept it in her dorm. She got in trouble for it a few times. Sadly, the cat died in a fire last summer. That was one great cat, and hopefully Boy and I will have one when we move in together this summer.
That's cool that so many people have bettas. My mother had one--actually, she had two, and put them in bowls near eachother. I guess one saw the other and jumped out of the bowl in an attempt to fight the other one, committing suicide in the process.

My pledge sister/roommate and I kept a rabbit in our room spring last year. It was fun to play with, but it stunk like crazy so Rex went home with my roomie over spring break and didn't come back. . .

I always wanted a dorm pet but since there were rules, we were pretty limited. All my hall friends owned little turtles or fish. One of my friends who lived on the second floor had just bought some turtles and he was hoping they would make their own kill with the live food that was provided. So one day I sat there just watching them and then BAM! It was pretty cool.
