Legally Abandoning Babies

On Russ Parr's show this morning, the People Poll question got me really heated this morning.

The question was whether or not you agree if it should be legal to abandon your child. Legalizing this will prevent the mother and/or father from being prosecuted.

I totally agree with it. It breaks my heart to hear of how women are leaving their children in garbage cans like they were taking out the trash. Innocent babies are dying because of this. I refuse to take the 'moral high ground' as some of the callers were doing by stating that these women have to be held accountable for their actions. Obviously, the women that are having children and are questioning whether they should throw them out with the trash, aren't responsible in the first place. I keep the bigger picture in mind in believing that it's better to place these unwanted babies in safe places versus leaving them outside like garbage!

I did a thread on this topic a while ago. I looked it up and it was entitled "A Secret Place for Newborns". I read a magazine article about it a while ago and began the thread. There are some interesting comments if you care to read them.
