Body for Life
Has anyone ever done this exercise program? I am going to be starting it in January, I think, lol.
BTW, I went to the exerice place tonight for the first time since joining. To be honest, I saw on the message board about the BFL class was going to be at whatever time. I thought it was a nice way to announce a group for Big Fat Ladies....luckily, I didn't say it out loud!

A good friend (and sigma nu) has lost over 30 pounds on the diet since summer started. BIG difference. He exercises everyday, and looks great now.

One of my bosses at work is doing it right now, diet and exercise. He's done it before and had success, but he was saying that the "cheat day" that you're allowed in the diet often ends up turning into a cheat weekend for him, which is something you have to be careful of. While the cheat is definitely an appeal of the diet I can see how it would be easy to rationalize more cheating.

From what I've gathered from my boss, 6 days out of the week you eat 6 small meals a day, and I think most (if not all) of your meals consist of a portion of protein the size of your fist and a portion of carbohydrate the size of your fist. Then you get one cheat day a week and you can eat whatever you want. There's a specific exercise program with it, but I have no idea what that is.
I may be wrong about the diet...my boss is on a different one every few weeks so I may have confused it with one of his other ones.

I got a gift certificate from Barnes and Noble so I got the book. After reading, I realize it is not for me. I don't think I could honestly do the excercise 5 days a week.
Also, I didn't like the "diet", esp. the part about having to drink 10 glasses a day. I barely get through 1, I get sidetracked, lol. i barely manage eating 3 times a day. 6 times is too much.
Also2, part of the diet includes either 3 portions of salmon (or some kind of fish) or a tablespoon of unsaturate fat or something...
With this, it's like you don't have a life for 12 weeks...you are either drinking, exercising or eating.

One of my sister's dad did this diet. At 60 years old, he looks freaking awesome! We called him the 'silver fox'. He did the body-building route of the diet. We'd be over at their house and he'd ask, "What do you think of my byceps?" and start flexing! It was a riot!
Anyways, a group of us started it (this was about five years ago!). I dropped it quick, because I couldn't fit the meals into my schedule. Plus, I'm lazy and hate to work out! The shakes tasted like cake mix, but you dont' have to take them. If you have will power, it's an awesome diet and can get you in great shape! I might try it again after I have the baby!

Thanks, Chris! (embarrassed
Monday I think I'll try the Pilates class..gee, I like being able to breeze in and out if I dont' like the class since it is included in the monthly fee
My sense of balance isn't that great so perhaps I won't feel like I'm about to trip
So...after the class, maybe I'll trade in the BFL book and trade it in for a Pilates book/tape.
